Having To Take 750mgs Of Nuvigil To Stay Awake?

Updated

My doctor prescribed Provigil about 2 years ago then after my sleep study he put me on Nuvigil and wearing CPAP at night. In the past 6 months I have had problems with daytime sleepiness. Had another sleep study and blood work and found that testosterone level was 208. 3 months of testoterone injections and now I still have to take three 250mg nuvugil to make it through the day. Is there anything else to try and fix this mess?

Is your doctor aware that you are taking that many of them each day?

The maximum daily dose of Nuvigil is not supposed to exceed 250mgs.

Exactly what was found in your sleep studies? That may better enable someone to provide you with more information.

I did tell him about taking 500mg doses per day. He said that he couldn't/wouldn't tell me that it was ok but he didn't refuse to give me a refill. It has been just recently in the past week for the 750mg. My MSLT study showed excessive daytime sleepiness although I did not reach REM sleep in any of the daytime naps. He is thinking of sending me to UAB Birmingham to see if their Neuro's can find something that he may be missing.

I am in the same condition with daytime sleepiness and 500mg per day. Did you go to Birmingham to see a neurologist? What did you learn?

Have you been to uab yet? I am there for a muscle disorder, that place has been a joke, great doctors. But be prepared to battle about 30 people on the phone. They are like children rrunning through the house and if you can remember the 90s every child had to answer the phone. Good luck

I am not a doctor. But I advise you to seek one.

If you can't seek help for whatever reason, you should consider cutting using the water dilution method. You can look up the details online. Basically, as long as you are ready to get well and aren't trying to be "high", you can slowly dilute more and more. Do it very slowly, diluting by 10% per week, maybe? You will need to research to see if anyone has a good program posted somewhere. Every drug is different. Because the afinils have a long half life I would personally recommend small cuts over a longer time. Just experiment.

The best thing you could do is talk to a specialist.

My neurologist has me on 250 in the morning and 250 at noon on the nuvigil. A lot of the time I take them at the same time and sometimes I don't, it just depends what time of the day it is and how tired I am... Like today I woke up right around noon. I have sleep apnea so bad they say I have symptoms of narcolepsy. That's the reason I'm on that dosage.

Ripvanwinkle: I have MS and extreme fatigue, so my neurologist prescribed Nuvigil 250. At first it was amazing, I felt like a new woman, but soon it didn't seem to work as well. When I returned to my doc, he told me that the body adjusts VERY quickly and advised that I skip taking it at least 2 days a week. So on days I don't have as much to do I have skip it. Now on the days that I do take it, it has once again become a wonder drug! I know it may be hard to find days to skip it, but I promise it is well worth it. Hope this helps!

I'm also experiencing daytime sleepiness while taking 250 mgs of nuvigil, would it be beneficial to request a second dose for later in the day? Is this a significant increase? I'm sure my doctor would consider it but is it safe?

for attention/shift work disorder/narcolepsy: i've been on vyvanse 70mg q day at 0600am, then zenzedi 40mg at 3pm. my neurologist just gave me script for nuvigil 150mg q day - one hour before my shift. said to take the nuvigil, instead of the vyvanse & zenzedi

I'm taking up to 1500mg daily and still sleep half of the day. I live in a country were there's no such thing called sleep disorder so there's no doctors I can go to. I also tried amphetamines at a very high dosage but no luck. Any advice? I really need some help... I've had several accidents while driving it's a miracle I'm alive

Re: Zain (# 12) Expand Referenced Message

If your condition is so bad that it’s presenting a risk such as dying in a crash, then I’d suggest finding MDPV. It’s likely not a scheduled substance in your country and was used in the 60s to treat narcolepsy but was dropped from clinical trials due to addiction potential.

I’ve used MDPV before and it blows methamphetamine out of the park. 5mg is a dose, that's 200 doses per gram.

Not trying to suggest you start a drug habit, but when compared to the alternative (death at the wheel), and when considering 1500mg of armodafinil doesn’t keep you awake, I’d guess that the MDPV wouldn’t even have an overpowering effect on you like it would on someone with a normal drug tolerance like myself.

And if it is legal where you are, it’s likely dirt cheap, like 30 bucks a gram. That’s 30 bucks for 200 doses.

Good luck.
