It will take about 3-5 days to get outta your piss. Depending on how much you were taking a day

@sickntired, sorry to hear about your challenges with suboxone. I see Paulyspee already answered your initial question about how long it's generally working in your body for due to it's long half life. I don't have all the answers to your other questions but everyone says that it's one of the more difficult drugs to come off of, so I feel for the position you're in. However with the help of your doctor it is possible to lessen the severity of the withdrawals so you don't have to go through the terrible feelings. I realize you already stopped taking it and may still be dealing with these symptoms, but if you wanted to make things a little easier on yourself maybe you could always try asking the new doctor to write up a slow tapering schedule based off the remainder of your script?

I have tried to come off a few times on my own. cold turkey. taper. always unsuccessful. Now i have to have faith that under a drs care i will kick it once n for all. i know its months down the road. but at least now i have a set dose eveyday. and not dealing w the runaround of the RUN AROUND. not knowing if or when id find it each day made it very hard to be stable n ween down..i felt like i was chasing the H like the old days. instead it was suboxone. doc says prob 9-12 months we can start tapering.. im just SO GRATEFUL to finally have a doc and a program. its been 4 yrs of getting it off the street. very exhausting and stressful.

So hard to watch and read all the misinformation out there about opiates and Subs. But I suppose it is hard for anybody to really grasp how different the experience of Suboxone is between individuals. It is widely different. Naive patients feel very high and heavy drug users feel normal for the first time in years. There are just very few docs that know all this stuff well. Suboxone, Subuxtex or whatever version of Bup out now are all potentially amazing in that they let you taper easily. Nobody can taper off oxy with the up and down roller coaster. That would make you more of an addict. Subo is the best for this by far, but not in a month. Each new level should be at least ten days. Then sit there for a bit. So 1 to 3/4, 2/3 , 1/2 , 1/3, 1/4 , 1/8 Then get to 1 mg and stop there for 3 mths. I often will have them go to single dose and then when I taper drop we divide the dose to twice daily. Just a way to confuse the brain. The amazing thing that not that many know is if you have a hard core user that is on 2 Suboxone per day, then after 6 mths they are down to 1/2 per day. Once they adjust slowly they will feel exactly the same at the 1/2 strip as they did at the two strips. It is all an equilibrium state. This was a shocker to me, but now I have seen it hundreds of times.

Stabilize at .5mg or 1 mg and then you are ready to jump off. Also don't take 5 days off from work and sit alone in room during withdrawal. If you had oxy pills and sat there all week waiting how would you feel even with oxy in your room? Terrible so why in the hell would anybody combine that with withdrawal. Exercise and prepare to get off. When you feel it then run around the block. Keep busy.

Docs can give a benzo, clonidine, other meds, but we particularly favor naltrexone at night during withdrawal. Starting around day 6. It speeds up PAWS. Moves you beyond it better.
