I really need help with this and have no one to turn to. I'm absolutely CRUSHED, I failed a hair follicle test for cocaine 2100pg and have only tried this once in my entire life. I am on prescription meds for anxiety and ADD for past 12 years but do not use street/illegal drugs. The only exception to this is marijuana which i did used to have at bedtime to sleep. Why would i fail for cocaine and not the prescriptions i take everyday or marijuana which i had quite frequently for years?? Child services is who is asking for this based on an absolute lie that someone called about, saying my 6 yr old son is going to school with holes in his sweatpants! Wtf!? That is entirely untrue, and when they came to my home they knew that it was untrue immediately. Seeing that he is EXTREMELY well taken of, began to question my anxiety and medication. This has snowballed into my worst nightmare and the false allegations just keep coming. So now, she requested i take a 2nd random urine test this morning that i passed, and a 2nd follicle test as well (2nd Follicle test this month the 1st was the one Positive for Cocaine) which seems odd to me and the tech that observed both tests agreed the follicle tests were very close together. They now want my son supervised with me because of the first test showing that f***in cocaine metabolite level of 2100pg. For single use 6 months ago is that even possible to produce a high level of the metabolite? I feel like she is trying to make a case out of nothing but judgment and using mental health ignorance as her guide. I see a therapist and psychiatrist for the meds exactly as I'm supposed to. How can that be looked down on? :( my son is everything to me, we've been through so much together and i can't handle being punished for something i did not do. I'm NOT a drug addict or neglectful mother AT ALL. How could this happen to someone who puts every single day into making their baby boy and best friend smile and be happy? :( please tell me how this could happen a tech error maybe? Will my 2nd follicle test help show them i was being truthful and not a cocaine user?? I'm floored by this, and have no one to believe me that a test could be wrong. I know what i put into my body and have no reason to lie. Especially on here where no one knows me. Any help would be so appreciated! Thanks everyone.

I'm floored. I took a hair follicle test for a trucking company that I've been with for 3 yrs. Never failed any drug test, did randoms and never tested positive. But this particular day I did a urine and hair test and my urine was negative but my hair tested positive for cocaine. Wow, I need help bad. I'm out of work because of a false reading on my hair. I've never even seen cocaine. Why am I'm suffering to be accused of doing cocaine and now I'm out of a job?

Firstly you need to satisfy yourself that the technician and lab staff where following all legally required integrity procedures to be able to state with certainty that this result is reliable, valid, accurate to the degree of error permitted by law/regulations, and that they have confirmed this finding by testing your B sample (they split the hair sample in two, test one and store the other as a reference sample for future testing, just like urine and blood in sports drug testing. If they have not already done this, you have the right to request they do it, or send it to a diff lab for testing, and any discrepancies in results can be legitimately questioned and probably thrown out on grounds of improper integrity compliance. They must prove they didn’t f*** up, you don’t have to prove they did. The second test and any confirmation, or lack of, will determine the lawful status of your results. Ask the people that you deal with for all documentation of your rights, their procedures, proof of integrity and chain of custody process, quality control compliance and certification that their labs and equipment are all to standard. You have a basic right to an open and accountable process, with acceptable standards of accuracy, and any flaws in the collection and handling of your biological specimen. Ask for documents showing substance cutoff limits, all known false positives and cross reactions. They will have all of this data, but may not readily offer it. Ask ask ask until you are either fully satisfied with the whole thing or you have even the smallest legitimate grounds to question the result. They have to satisfy the minimum approved standard expected by the law/state/regulations/court of all testing services and they must be able to comprehensively demonstrate that no malpractice or negligence occurred that falls below this standard. You have nothing to lose by asking every question you can and checking every damn procedure for possible flaws as this has serious long term implications if it stands, especially if you know in your heart it’s wrong/innaccurate in any deleterious way.
