Global Generic Adderall
UpdatedI have been on generic IR adderall with my first being Teva. I could not take that at all! I tried the 10 mg and 20 mg's and it made me so nervous and jittery that I had to take a nerve pill and go to sleep. Then CVS gave me another generic version but I can't remember the name. It didn't make me nervous but it also didn't really give me any effects at all. So I just happened to find 20 mg Sandoz generic. Those were the best generic for me by far! But then the town I live in now only prescribe Teva. My husband had to go out of town to find the Sandoz and it's a pain to have to go to the pharmacies to see what brands they have because they can't/won't even tell you over the phone what manufacture brand they have. For the last month I have been going through a lot of stress due to menopause. I was only taking 20 mg Sandoz twice daily. They are great but don't last that long. I went to my doctor today to see if I could get an XR in hopes that the scrip would last longer because actually it not only helps my ADD but Menopause as well. So I go to the pharmacy where I got my Sandoz not knowing that they don't make XR. They only had Teva and Global. I refused the Teva and got the Global 20mg and 1/2 hr after I took it, I was a nervous wreck again! I ate like crazy and was so tired that I took a 2 hr nap. When I woke up to get my son off the bus I was so nauseated, tired, and had a bad headache. So now I'm left with nothing until my doctor comes back to work on Monday. So my question is if I get the brand name Adderall, is it really expensive even with health insurance? And also is anyone else having the same side effects on this Global brand? What is the best generic brand close to the real Adderall? I know all of them affect people differently but I'm in the dark with these XR pills. I guess I'm going to have to ask for 20 mg Sandoz IR 3x a day verses 2x a day. Thanks for any advice that someone can give me.

Hello, TamTam! How are you doing?
Actually, the Adderall may not be helping with your menopause symptoms as much as you think, it may be aggravating some of them. The nervousness, anxiety, food cravings and etc. can all be caused by hormonal fluctuations. Thus, you may want to discuss this with your doctor, before you assume it is all due to the different Adderall generics.
Additionally, since Adderall is a stimulant, it can cause the nervousness and jittery feeling as a side effect, along with headache, irritability and mood swings, as listed by the FDA. It also carries the risk of being habit forming.
What type of doctor have you been seeing? I think a gynecologist that specializes in menopause would actually help you more than a PCP or other doctor.
