Does anyone know why Focalin XR 5mg has been recalled? I went to pick up my son's perscription and they told me it had been recalled, but didn't know why.

I really hope that you have some bad information, my pedi just prescribed the FocalinXR5mg for our 10 year old son, I gave him his first dose today. It was a 30 day free persription to see if this is what he needs. We went to our pharmecy at Kroger, and even though they didn't carry it, they were sure that Walgreens or CVS would. There was no talk of a recall, but the pharmecist at Kroger didn't know why they didn't carry it.

I contacted the doctor and they said that they didn't know anything about the recall. We have continued to give our child the medication. It has made a world of difference with him. I hope you have the same luck.

There is NO recall listed for this on the FDA refalls page. It is possible the pharmacy misunderstand, it may have just been a recall for a drug with a similar name. You can always check this information for yourself by going to the FDA.gov page and doing a search under the drug name.
I also did a general search on Google and there are no recall issues that come up.
