Don't feel alone! I moved 65 miles from my physician and where I live now, NO doctor here will take me as a patient! They look at my present condition and refuse to accept as a patient! So I have to travel. Is that against the law if you are a doctor taking new patients but refuse to take me as their patient? It makes me angry and lost.

Hello! I'm very sorry about the problems that you both have had.

Now, the first issue may be due to looking for a doctor that will prescribe Methadone. Most doctors are going to view that as being drug seeking behavior and not even let you get in the door. You need to just find a new doctor, then discuss your treatment options, when you're actually in with them for an appointment.

And no, no doctor is obligated to take you on as a patient and treat you. The only time a doctor is obligated to treat someone is if they are in life-threatening danger and even then, they only have to treat you, until you are stable.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Is there anything else I can help with?

I have a great doctor. He has won several awards for compassion. Unfortunately, he is in Seattle. I know that's a little bit of a drive, but he writes two prescriptions at a time so you only have to see him every other month. He is the most fantastic Dr that I have ever had. I was having chronic pain and nobody would help me, I am sure that I was being stereotyped as drug seeking behavior because I have dreadlocks and tattoos. Anyway, he ran a couple diagnostics and we worked together to find a pain management plan that works for me. Everytime I see him he is asking, are you sleeping okay, can I do anything else for you? He is in constant communication with my other doctors when I have had surgeries. The man is amazing. If you like I will give you his info.

Thank you for sharing this info with me! If this doctor is half as good as u say then It would be a step up from docs in yakima. I'm willing to drive to Seattle I have three kids two boys (6&3) & a 14 year old daughter who will be a freshman this year so the once a month or every other month would be a welcomed alone time. I'm curious is it a medical clinic w several docs or his own clinic. And is he family Medicine dr or specialize in pain! My husbands the manager of the Les Schwab tire center in Wapato, Wa so we have excellent insurance (Lifewise health plan of Oregon). Here is my personal e-mail so u can send the info too and I'll call tomorrow to see if they're taking new pts. Thank u again have a good night. {edited for privacy}

Can anyone help me with finding a pain Dr / opiate prescriber who is reliable and not a pill mill? I just moved here and my Dr resigned without giving me the mandate of 3 months of rxs until finding a new Dr. I have numerous issues including back and fractured pelvis, hip and tailbone after being hit by my husband in our car purposely. I also have degenerative bone disease and ra, along with 20 plus surgeries trying to repair joints with a phone joke of an ortho Dr back home. I am on fentanyl 50 mcg, methadone 10 mg qid and was on oxy 30 and 20 tid and 30s bid along with percocet 10 325 and yes ask anyone, if you were never told u would have no clue. Now I have csf leaking from my np e and ears after a blow to the head and being immune compromised. Diabetic nerve pain along with plantar fascitis. It's impossible to function without my meds. People have absolutely no respect AND RUINED IT for people like myself with kids to care for and no way to perform adls without my medications after 2 decades of taking everything they tried. I have not found anything that works and actually am afraid my inj. has gone septic. I only want to see one Dr. If you can imagine the feeling of a whole entire c.section due to anesthesia not working then u will know a level 10 pain scale. My best is a five and I have managed to learn to try despite overwhelming blues and depression to keep busy but make myself not only depressed but physically ill from my pain. Please help me. I'd give you the shirt off my back if u needed it. At least help for the sake of my two disabled kiddos who im their full time caregiver. God bless you. Please help.

Re: francis (# 3)

I’m in Yakima, I have had 3 back surgeries, 2 knee surgeries, and now I have a tube in my abdomen because of terrible infections. I’m 38 I never touched pills until my 1st back surgery. The Doctor I have now keeps dropping my dose and I have the same pain when these infections arose. I would really like to see your doctor. Thank you
