Filling Out Of State Prescription

i went back to my dr. in tennesee for a check up on foot surgery.the P.A. signed the script for pain meds.i live in ky...when i tried to fill it ,they told me because a P.A. signed it ,i can't fill it in my state of ky...why didn't the state of tenn.know this..why wasn't it signed by my dr.now i'm sitting here about to die with my foot with a useless pain med script..i can't drive due to my foot and have no way of getting back to tenn .to get another script..is this the law or are they just not wanting to fill my script?

Yes, that was put in place years ago, only a board certified MD can sign prescriptions for opiates. I'm sorry, I know this doesn't help you, I am just informing you how things currently stand.

The FDA warns that opiates carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation.

Do you have a local doctor, yet? If so, or if you can find one, they may be able to help, if you explain the problem and show them the prescription.

Horrible position to be in. Been there, done that. I had a total ankle replacement following a car accident so I can relate to your pain. Im not here to preach but, I would ditch those Narcs sooner than later. I have taken every pain med that is out there and honestly, it will cause more problems for you down the road. Unless you are vomiting from REAL pain and NOT withdrawals, Ditch that crap, trust me you dont need it! Good Luck!

Ok, I live in South Louisiana... I work in the Midland/ Odessa area of Texas and I only go home every now and then. What can I do to fill my prescription of zanex? When I can I fill at Walgreens at home, I tried out here in Texas and at Walgreens and NOPE, they won't do it. It's really turning out to be a problem. You can't fill till 2 or 3 days early, then my girlfriend was getting them filled and mailing them to me but it never works out right and I go 2 or 3 days sometimes without my meds cause of weekends/ holidays. I really need to figure this out...
