Fentanyl Oral Transmucosal, Lozenges Or Subsys Spray

Updated

I was on Actiq for 15yrs then my Dr. retired and the new replacement Dr. switched me to subsys. Every month I would ask to go back on lozenges (sucker type/lollipop). Then jan 5th of this yr 2016. he stopped treating me cold turkey.....I should say abruptly stopped. The quality of my life has gone down hill. I have to broken hips (femoral head off). I can not have surgery because I am a paraplegic, but have sensation in my hips but am not weight baring and have a big history of MRSA...I went through horrible withdraw, was a crazy person, now I don't do anything anymore. I use to be active and swam and worked out and did Doberman rescue, now I never leave the house, and am miserable with pain...I think about killing myself all the time. I finally found a Dr. in June who wrote formoraphine. It helped maybe one percent. I have had so many inj's. in my hip and spine, but still in agony. I was planning on going to Cedars Saini in LA (live in Breck) use Denver Boulder area....but got 2 blood clots in my lungs, and now am on blood thinners and can not have anything done while on them. Was anyone cut off of Actiq or Subsys, that do not have cancer, besides me? My problem is that my physiology has a high tolerance to Opioids, even though I'm not more then 110 lbs......I f***ing hate how chronic pain patients get grouped together with "prescriptions abusers or addicts" and the DEA is ruining my life....

I am very sorry that you are in so much pain, no one should have to suffer like this.

As to being cut off, yes, it has been happening all over the U.S. due to new DEA directives, which have made most doctors afraid to raise dosages, or continue prescribing existing doses.

Fentanyl is generally reserved for possibly terminal cancer patients, now.

The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.

Can anyone else that's had this happen chime in?

Hi - I read your posting and hope you found a doctor that was willing to help you. There is always the European market which is more lenient with certain drugs - if you have any connections to people in England or France. {edited for privacy} DO you have a support group of friends or literally a support group that you can talk with or who check in on you... Very crucial to remain connected - somehow. Despite your instincts to isolate or end your life. Please let people know how you are on this site...Illness can be so isolating, depressing and challenging. You are not alone in your struggles - please know that. Sometimes that can help - just knowing that...other days, not so much. I do understand.
