My advice - I currently have a very low tolerance and applied a 100 mcg patch 10 hrs ago. I stopped a 180 mg daily oxy habit of 3 years 2/14. Since 2/14 until now my opiate usage would be 5 30 mg oxy's monthly typically - I've used maybe 25 mcg orally 3 times in the past 5 months and 60 mg morphine plugged a couple times. I have also used subutex a few times I no longer experience opiate w/d and a dose of 30 mg oxy leaves me extremely buzzed for a good 12 hrs. That being said, I rec'd a 100 mcg patch today to help me with extreme back pain for the next 4 days. I was nervous to wear this patch due to strength and explored my options as to the safest yet most effect route of admin. I was going to cut patch up in 8 parts and admin orally or attempt to make 4 patches out of 1. Orally proved to be the highest risk of OD with least effectiveness over time. Attempting to make 4 patches would be difficult not to mention once you cut the patch you lose a lot of the medication from evaporation and/or dripping of attempting to tape it together. I calculated the patch will equal approx 7 30 mg oxy's a day for 72 hrs. I decided I would wear the patch with these safe guards - Someone stayed the night with me - If I felt signs of mild opiate OD I.E. sick to stomach, nods, nervousness, breathing trouble, etc I'd remove patch. I applied patch - at hour 4 until current I was overcome with a strong warm rush buzz, amazing pain relief but not f***'d up - I was wide awake but not nervous, My breathing is normal, pulse is strong and normal, no nodding, and stomach is fine. In the past if I took to much opiates I would instantly throw up or come close if I attempted to smoke a cig - Nothing like that has happened. I would say if you have had a consistent usage of opiates and you be smart like observing your vitals/have a friend stay with you, then you'll be fine. My experience with Subutex is that its meant to only get you so buzzed until all your opiate receptors are filled, the drug is meant specifically to bind to receptors first over other opiates making it a great drug to help addicts not abuse other opiates while on Subutex - This is bad too b/c, it will make your fent patch less effective overall until the subutex is out of your body - Why??? Well, the subutex has occupied all those opiate receptors make that nice warm happy rush/buzz not possible b/c the fent has no receptors to bind to- Personally, to not waste your patch I would wait until your first onset of mild opiate w/d happens before applying the patch I.E. watery eyes/yawns - Or wait approx 15-18 hrs from your last subutex dose. Sub's have a very long half life which I can't remember exactly the time frame from the top of my head but around 15 hrs or so should be a decent amount of in-between time to avoid w/d and allow enough time for the fentanyl to build up to effectively work. I hope this has helped. As always, please be responsible and as safe as possible

Subutex does not contain the Naloxone that neutralizes opiates, so if that is all you took, you should be fine, but always double check such things with your doctor.

It is Suboxone that contains Naloxone with the Buprenorphine, so it is the drug that neutralizes other opiates to prevent their abuse while someone is being treated with it.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Is there anything else I can help with?
