I think we all need to start writing some letters to Alex Gorsky, the CEO of Johnson & Johnson - and see if he is aware that they are discontinuing one of their best products??? I agree, raise the price - just don't discontinue this great product!!!

I have the same issue as Mike. I have used this product for probably 5 years now daily. I know you aren't supposed to use this product daily but if I don't my eyes look like demon eyes. None of the other Visine products work. Maybe for other people, but not for me. Oxymetazoline is what works. I had no idea there was a shortage or I would have stocked up. I ran out yesterday and I just paid $90 for 3 bottles on e-bay (friggen pirates) but its worth it. I can tell you that I did buy the Afrin and used it in my eyes and it worked. Don't put it in straight though. Its too strong. Use an eye wash mixed in. I used Advanced Eye Relief Eye WASH from Bausch & Lomb. 2 parts Afrin with 1 part wash to reduce it to the Visine LR level. I am only going to do this until my bottles arrive from the e-bay pirates. Then when those bottles run out in 9 months, I will go back to the Afrin mix. Which is ridiculous. BRING BACK VISINE LR for the love of God. I signed the petition. Everyone should.

Occuclear has not been available in the U.S. in quite some time. I wish they would bring that eye drop back as well as the Visine Long Lasting. I don't know which eye drops I'm going to use now, since I can only use eye drops that contain oxymetazoline. Not many eye drops have that ingredient, and they burn my eyes when I use it. I'm not a happy camper at all right now!!!!

I am also working on another angle. I have contacted the makers of Nostrilla (nose drops with oxymetazoline) which some of you on this link use at: [email protected]

I have asked them to please make an eyedrop with oxymetazoline as they are already marketing a nose spray with the ingredient. In the email, I let them know that Johnson and Johnson has discontinued Visine LR and NOW there isn't any EYEDROPS ON THE MARKET WITH OXYMETAZOLINE. I told them they would be the only company in the US to produce this much needed product. Prestige Brands actually sent me a letter stating they are bringing this issue to their marketing and quality assurance personnel!

The only eye drops which work on my eye redness has been visine LR with oxymetazoline HCl. I am having more and more difficulty finding this particular visine. Is there another eye drop with oxymetazoline HCl over the counter? Please advise!

Jerome- No, there is no other eye drop with oxymetazoline that is manufactured in the United States. That is why I am hoping all will sign the petition on change.org

Also, Afrin and Nostrilla nasal sprays, while having the active ingredient of oxymetazoline (are not indicated for use in the eyes.) Some, as you will see on this link, are using them in their eyes because we are all desperate. It is up to you, if you want to try it.

I urge you all to please sign the petition, contact Johnson and Johnson, contact the makers of Nostrilla and/or other companies that currently make products with oxymetazoline and ask them to bring Visine LR back on the market or create eyedrops with oxymetazoline.

Please see my post below about Afrin. Do not use it undiluted. Its been 2 days now and my eyes are clear. There are risks as its not sterile. But same risks as getting water from the shower in your eyes.

Possibly misreading the ingredients, Afrin is unless reformulated is is a nasal 10-12h . It is habitforming and causes rebound nasal congestion. Deoxyzylometazine is the former ingredient. I wouldn't use it at all unless nothing else works, and then only 3 days during your worsening.

It seems odd that they would just discontinue the only two eye drops (LR and Workplace) that contain oxymetazoline without an official explanation. The least they could do is let everyone know why. Have they found some negative long term effects of using it? or what is the issue?

I don't know off any other brands that use oxymetazoline.

This may sound funny but Afrin nose drops. Work very well. They have the same active ingredient. Ive been using them for a week and love it. It also lasts all day.

If anyone is so inclined, please sign the petition via the link posted below asking Prestige Brands to produce eyedrops with oxymetazoline. They currently make Nostrilla, which is a nasal spray with this main ingredient.

Bring back Visine LR. It was the ONLY eye drop that worked for me. J&J can raise the price if the issue was profitability. I'm sure many of us would be willing to pay more to have it.

I found a local very legitimate "custom prescription" pharmacy that is willing to make oxymetazoline eye drops, equivalent to Visine LR. They can only serve customers in the states surrounding Pennsylvania (where they operate.) and would need a prescription to sell it to a customer. There should be other such pharmacies in other states. If you have an interest, please reply to this post and I will give you the contact information for this pharmacy.

I checked with my compound pharmacy and they do not make eyedrops at all.
I would like the contact info of your pharmacy just to see if they know of any pharmacy here in California that might be able to help. Thank you in advance.

I cannot believe they have discontinued Workplace Visine. I have been using it for 10 years due to an eye-surgery on my right eye and it is the only drop that relieves the redness. So frustrating...please bring it back!!

Very disappointed that Visine discontinued LR. It was the only drop that worked well for me. Apparently it was not a big seller. Based on these messages and the fact it's very expensive online, it's pretty clear there is a big demand for it.

Has anybody been able to find Claritin? It supposedly has the same formula as LR.
