From what I can discover, it seems it has been discontinued, however, on their website, they list the active ingredient as being Oxymetazoline.

Ironically, it is not used in any of their other products.

I am not finding a lot of over the counter products that contain it, however, Claritin Eye Allergy Relief Drops have it and so does Ocuclear.

Is there anything else I can help with?

Hey, I just found Visine LR at my local Walgreens today! Perhaps they've resumed production.

Not all Walgreens carry the visine LR, which means that they are just selling what stock they have left. Not sure why visine stopped making this brand. I don't like anything else. Need the oxymetazoline

Only thing that works for my wife...Seems the FDA issued a warning several years ago about kids under 5 DRINKING this... so everyone overreacted and has discontinued it... STUPID STUPID STUPID. If the dumb kids drink it, jail the parents !! So tired of this type action... so make it for ADULTS ONLY.

Afrin nasal spray also uses Oxymatazoline Hydrochloride. Haven't tried it yet but I'm gonna try. It's 0.05% as opposed to the 0.025% level in Visine. It's also about $8 for a 1-ounce bottle so way cheaper than Visine.

Screw Visine and J&J for not listening to their customers.

I've switched to Bausch and Lomb advanced eye relief (Redness instant relief) it has Naphazoline . Doesn't work as well nor last all day but it helps.

Hello,

For everyone on this link, there is another conversation going on in the same exact webpage about Visine LR being discontinued, see:

Discuss/Visine-LR-Discontinued-200960.htm

I have started a petition on change.org to bring this product back, see:

change.org/p/johnson-johnson-bring-back-visine-long-lasting-redness-relief-visine-lr

Please sign it if you are inclined and read our current postings on the above link.

Thank you!

I started using opcon A by Bausch &Lomb. It sorta stings a little, but does work. Contains Naphazoline HCI. I also emailed Visine and they said the same thing: discontinued, but would alert marketing team. Whatevs.

Over the weekend I tried Afrin nasal spray that also that contains Oxymatazoline as Carlos mentioned earlier. It worked very well, and it lasted a long time. What worries me is that Afrin not sterilized so I only tried it once. According to a pharmacist that I spoke with, using Afrin is just like putting water in your eyes. That means it's possible to get an infection if bacteria is present. I'm pretty sure I get water in my eyes all the time in the shower. Does anyone know more about the risks?

I also tried Opcon-A (contains Naphazoline) and got decent results. I might use this for the mean time, but I still like Oxymatazoline better.

Well, I just shelled out $120 USD for 3 bottles on ebay. Today was my first day in years going without the visine with Oxymetazoline and my eyes are completely red, I look like a monster. I've been using Visine Triple Action today and it does absolutely nothing, in fact might even make it worse. I'm sure I'll be putting the nasal spray in my eyes once these 3 bottles run out.

Mike,

I think we all know and agree that it is outrageous what sellers are charging for remaining bottles of Visine LR! I worry though about putting nasal sprays in my nose. I don't know if this is safe? I will be sending my petition on change.org to Johnson and Johnson soon to ask them to please bring Visine LR back to the market. I don't know if it will help but I feel at least I need to try.

Hey fellow oxymetazoline users. it feels like a crime to stop making Visine LR and workplace. I've signed the petition. i'm going to call j and j as well. We need an organized social media plan. there must be thousands of others.

The funny thing about this forum is we haven't all asked --what is this ailment we all seem to share? I have been to numerous eye doctors and they all say my eyes are basically fine. I get regular checks when I get contact lenses renewed, and always perfect eyes. And yet, when I wake up, my eyes are red and feel terrible. But two drops of the magic Visine LR and I am OK for the whole day. I still have about 10 bottles left, but they are all expired! I wonder what is worse-- using expired LR drops or starting on the Afrin/distilled water mix! Any thoughts?

I'm finally down to my last bottle of Visine LR. I have already spent hundreds of dollars trying other eyedrops and they all irritate my eyes, even the drops from the eye doctor cause me irritation.
The foreign made eyedrops, Cendo Asthenof and Zoamet both bother my eyes after a few uses. I am desperate for something to use as my eyes get really red, dry, and swollen without the Visine LR. How safe is Afrin and can it be used without diluting it?

Bought a bottle of Allergex. So far it's been a week and found it to work exactly the same as the LR. $38.00/15ml. It works for me. Little expensive but I don't like the feel of the tears/Afrin mix which I tried a couple of days. So far very happy.

I use Afrin all the time... no problems at all and works great! Thank god. I was in a panic when I knew I couldn't get the VLR anymore. Afrin even works better.

Mix that with 50/50 with water and you have eye drops that work like Visine Long Lasting . Again works for me , try at your own risk.

I use Oxymetazoline nasal spray @ .05 percent but spray it on my eyes. It's way cheaper and has an airbrushing action. It works. Not that I would ever condone off label usage of any product. Don't try it but it works.
