Hi,

I've been taking epilepsy medicines from 16 months and I'm currently on levipil 500mg and sodium valproate 500mg twice a day and eptoin 300mg in the night. I have noticed an alarming hair loss and very serious forgetfulness. I have a very social life where I drink and smoke. Please share your thoughts about my worries and advice on how it could be solved. Thanks.

If you have epilepsy, you should not be drinking and smoking, because both actions can lower your seizure threshold.

Hair loss and forgetfulness can be normal side effects of anticonvulsant medications, as reported by the U.S. FDA, you may also experience nausea, mood swings and weight gain.

Have you informed your doctor of the problems you're having?
