Updated

I HAVE BEEN ON OXYCODONE FOR OVER 2 YEARS AND MY DRUG STORE RAN OUT AND GAVE ME ENDOCET? SAID IT WAS THE SAME THING BUT MY BODY TELLS ME THAT IT'S NOT THE SAME. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS CHANGE?

It's now 2017, and as I read these old posts, it saddens me to say that ppl like Genie, whose son tragically overdosed and died, got their way, and it is now almost impossible for ppl who suffer from chronic pain to get relief. My mother is 80 yrs old, has polymyalgia and degenerative disc disease, pain so bad some days she can't walk, can't sit, can't lay down....and since her long-time dr died 3 yrs ago of stomach cancer, can no longer get the pain relief she so badly needs. She doesn't even expect to be pain-free, she just wants to be able to FUNCTION, to have some quality of life! I love my mother & it kills me to see her suffer and hear her say that this is no way to live, that she's so tired of fighting with no relief. It's tragic when someone dies of overdose, but we currently have no other options that work as effectively as opioids for relief of really bad pain, and until we do, it is UNFORGIVABLE to allow ppl to SUFFER because of what has happened to a minority of oxy users, no matter how tragic that is for families left behind! My mother will not live long, whatever happens with her pain, but should she have to suffer every day for whatever time she has left? NO!!!! And there should be a way for her to get help....sign something that says she/her family will not sue if something happens, WHATEVER! I'm sorry for every family dealing with the grief of losing a loved one to overdose, but DO NOT think that makes it right to deprive others of the only option they have for pain relief and quality of life. No one should have to live like that in this day and age....NO ONE!

You are right, my mother has degenerative disc disease as well as polymyalgia, and even if she could get a script for the meds she needs, the insurance companies won't fill them. So, as a result, on those days when she can't walk, can't sit, can't lay down, she SUFFERS (and those days have now gotten to be the majority of her days as her condition continues to deteriorate). It has gotten to a point that now EVERYONE who uses an opioid pain medications is basically classified as a drug addict, and that many who suffer from debilitating, chronic pain can no longer find adequate relief for quality of life (and note, I did NOT say "pain-free" quality of life since most who suffer the worst don't even expect to be pain free....they just want to be able to FUNCTION!) ALL we EVER hear through media is about the overdose cases, and they are TRAGIC, no doubt, but they are THE MINORITY of opioid pain med users, and we NEVER hear about the thousands and thousands of chronic pain sufferers, like my mother, who can no longer get relief, who has been sentenced to an inhumane existence for whatever time she has left on this earth because someone has decided that she can't have the medication she needs, that she isn't responsible enough, that because someone's son, daughter, parent, husband, wife, sibling, friend overdosed, so will she, and if 3 pills a day aren't enough, TOO BAD, SUFFER! Somehow, the other side of this story has to get out there, has to be as prevelent as the stories of tragic overdose are. We, as a society, MUST put as much value on the ppl still living on this earth, trying to deal with terrible chronic pain, as we do the lives of those who, for whatever reason, could not handle their use of opioid pain medications. To make those still here, still suffering, pay for the mistakes of those who overdosed (though that is tragic) is UNFORGIVABLE!

Mark, I'm sorry & not sure how to gently say this but you are simply WRONG. I have been taking a WHITE pill generic for Percocet with no problems now pharmacy slipped by us a YELLOW Endocet and my body is reacting violenty, constant severe headache & severe nausea. You simply do not know what inactive ingredients are being used in each medication. (Food coloring? Hence the yellow color?) And more importantly you do not know how something is going to affect one person from another. If you don't have food, chemical & other allergies & sensitivities great for you - but please pause before telling others 'it's all in their minds'.

I 100% agree with you. I have a severe back injury and have run into same exact issues. Because some one else abused prescription drugs those of us folloeing the docs instructions amd just wanting to function and have some sort of quality of life, we are treated as drug seaking addicts when we are far from it. You are right the other side of the story needs to be told. My prayers are with you and your family.

I just called my pharm and he has Alvagen (sp) and Auro-something for generic Percocet 10/325. Anybody know these? I'm on the E712 and wonder if I can do better--I'm only getting 3 hours max out of them.

I totally agree with you, I suffer from the same thing as your mom and I also have a very hard time trying to get the pain meds. We have to pay for those that have decided to abuse and overdose on pain killers. Trump also has alot to do with this problem as well, sorry to say but he does.
