Does anyone know if it is okay to empty the medicine out of a 500 mg capsule and take it alone in a spoon? My husband cannot swallow capsules and he failed to ask the pharmacist for a liquid form of the medication.

That is okay to do, as long as it is not a time released medication, and there are not other warnings telling you that you shouldn't do so.

This is an antibiotic, and the FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash.

Is there anything else I can help with?
