Drug Test Barbiturates

Hello I am a union steward trying to defend a member who has been accused of failing a urinalysis test. The member takes a drug that is commonly known as fiorcet. The screen came back poisitive for barbiturates, and phenobarbital. I have spoken to a pharmacist who has told me that this drug would come back as a positive but I am looking for more proof to defend this member. Is there any documentation that you can refer me to that states that the drug fiorcet would raise a positive drug test for phenobarbital. The actual drug he takes is butalb/acetominophren/caffeine, thank you for your time

I just came back from my doctors appointment and they are saying I tested positive for barbituates and methamphetamines. I don't have anything to do with this stuff. I am on fioricet, oxycodone and xanax.
I did have a bad sinus infection so I took something for that but that was over the counter? Can anyone help me? Thank you

Fioricet contains butalbutal. Butalbutal=barbutuate

yes I understand Butalbutal is a barbiturate but would it create a positive test for phenobarbital

Well being that they ate both barbs I would say yes. However I cannot say for sure. Maybe contact the lab that did the u\a?. So much is riding on this from what I see a more professional resource might be the way to go. Sorry I can't be more help

Ugh rereading it makes me look crazy.. Ate = are.. Got a new software and autocorrect changes to craziest stuff sorry. I am not an i**** lol. I still think maybe a more professional resources might be the way to go. Both are barbs so I can see how the could create a + for one or the other but I only have experience to go by. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Fioricet contains butabital. Butalbital is a barbiturate.

My doctor wrote a note stating the medication metabolizes as such.

Fioricet absolutely does not show up as phenobarbital. I have been taking Fioricet for the last 5 year's and never has phenobarbital showed up.It will show up positive for barbiturates As long as it doesn't have codeine.
