Verve Says:

Will broken xanax XR 2mg still have the same properties as xanax? Do you lose the XR or does it make it a xanax ir? Will cutting in half cause the medication to not work at all?

Hello, Verve! How are you?

You don't lose the medication, but it could cause too much of it to be released, at once, which could cause an overdose. Thus, it is best to take them whole, as prescribed.

The FDA lists this medication as being a benzodiazepine that is most commonly used to treat anxiety and nervous disorders. It carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability.

Is there anything else I can help with?

If you have 2 MG IR pills Tammy there shouldn't be any symptoms of withdrawal. Many people don't like the XR because they don't work as quickly. As a rule all extended relief pills should never be broken in half

You mentioned you also have the 2 mg IR pills. There is no doubt you can suffer serious withdrawal problems. DO NOT stop or go cold turkey

Supplementing regular Xanax will be 100% acceptable as long as you don't run out. Look into different detox methods like Ashton
