It will not show up as an opiate, but I've heard from multiple sources that many if not all probation officers now test for buprenorphine (suboxone, subutex) in addition to the standard opiate test.

Most all places are testing for suboxen among the other urine drug tests. It will show as bupenorphine. It is a big drug out there now and court officers are very aware. It does get screened now

Yes in some time it will show up as an opiate. I did research on this drug for 14 months. They use a synthetic form of codeine in the drug. If they are not using the correct test to show that you are on suboxone, sometimes it can show up on the wrong test. I ran into this problem with the doctor that actually prescribed it. He administered the correct test and it showed that's all I had. I got my information on suboxone directly from the pharmaceutical site. It shows the chemical makeup by diagram of what is exactly in it. Wait a minute I was on regular beef an orphan and did not have the naloxone in my pill. So maybe that's why it showed up as an opiate. Nalpxon kind of blocks the feeling of opiates and euphoria, while still keeping you free of a withdrawal or supposedly giving you pain relief. Sorry in my case it did not. That medication specifically will not show an opiate. Go to the suboxone site that the pharmaceutical company has listed and read the information for yourself and you will find that that is what they are posting. I was very thankful, because my doctor told me I was crazy and I found out no I'm not. Most MD's can prescribe this drug. All they need to do is go on the correct side they take a three day course pass it and sign. I actually saw what they have to learn on the 3 day course and I found it lacking. It seems like they were giving a green light for a medication without giving all the information. I hope this helps you. All I can give you is my opinion and what happened to me. I am NOT a doctor or an RN, but I will tell you I literally researched the crap out of this drug. I wanted to know why a lot of things changed within my system and they were not good changes. On the other hand, I did find out that people were still up using this drug. They were taking it recreationally. When used in this manner the drug can make people go into immediate withdrawal or even kill them. So yes, there are individuals out there that have found a way to override the blocking in suboxone. That being said... The ceiling of use with suboxone is 32 milligrams a day. The reason it is that way is because after 32 milligrams of this drug, adding more to it is not going to make it more effective. It does not help to take more than that. It is a waste of your medication because it is not going to give you any more relief than 32 milligrams. I wish you luck with your test. If you were not prescribed this drug, I am sure they have the right testing units and will find out that it's in your system. It has an extremely long half-life of 36 hours for most people. I had to go off it for 6 days in order to have surgery and take a different opiate afterwards. When I went off it all together, my new opiate did not work as effective for 8 weeks. But I was on it for 2 years for pain relief. So maybe there was a build up in my tissues, I'm not quite sure. I just know that's what happened to me.

No. Suboxone is a synthetic opioid with a different chemical makeup than regular opiates. Standard drug tests that check for opiates detect metabolites that bupenorphrine does not produce. Therefore, unless a specific order is given to check for suboxone, it will not be detected. Probation officers are starting to check regularly now for suboxone, however, since it has been abused to the point that it is a major problem. I am on felony probation and I am checked for opiates AND suboxone. A regular 5, 7, 11 panel strip test will not produce a positive result for subs. If it is sent to a lab, they usually check a lot more, so chances are much higher it will be found. Hope this helps.

The bup part of Suboxone is an opiate so I don’t see why it wouldn’t show up as one.
