Kim, as a doctor confirmed that it's nerve damage and instructed you to use the Lyrica?

There are other conditions that can cause similar symptoms, including acid reflux.

Have any tests been done?

yea i have had alot of tests already like a chest xray, mri of shoulder, emg/ncv, and they would like to do an mri of my neck next, the dr has prescribed me the med lyrica which helps the burning pain i have in my upper chest, Idk what other tests there is to take to determine if i have nerve damage there and i know some nerves heal in the body but takes a very long time, i wonder if these nerves wll ever heal?

I had shingles about 10 years ago and have nerve damage on the right side of my body. I take 50 mg of Lyrica daily coupled with a morphine pump that puts medicine directly to the nerves at all times. It has been my life saver and because it takes such a small amount of medicine, you don't have the drastic side effects of say morphine shots. Trust me, its worth talking to your pain management doctor about.

Kim:get off the Lyrica-Is-Dangerous-class-action-suit. I have fibro myalgia, was rushed to Hospital 3 times for heart attack conditions. Twice taken by ambulance from my GP'S office. The heart specialist at hospital told me I was the second fibro myalgia patient on Lyrica he saw that week with the same problem. He put the blame on the Lyrica.

Do you know of a legal suit? I suffered a Radial Nerve Palsy caused by Lyrica and am trying to find others who have suffered nerve problems, or any legal suits that could represent me, because I cannot take Pfizer on alone.

IF ANYONE HAS SUFFERED A NERVE PALSY OF ANY KIND AROUND THE TIME YOU WERE TAKING LYRICA; IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO CONTACT ME {edited for privacy}. I think everyone should get as close to accurate representation of my experience. Nothing over exaggerated, although the options for symptoms above was difficult to be accurate with (such as I am not sure "Shoulder-hand syndrome" fully qualifies as a symptom, but there are close associations).

I COULD NOT MOVE MY FINGERS OR CONTROL MY WRIST for about 8 months, and STILL SUFFER ongoing weakness. About 2 months before I started regaining mobility a doctor displayed some research citing the use of LYRICA HAS RESULTED IN A VARIETY OF NERVE PALSIES, including Peroneal, Bell, Cranial, RADIAL, etc... By DISCONTINUATION and physical therapy 3x/weekly, I am now able to type this message. This INFORMATION IS NOT PRESENTED in the pamphlet distributed when Lyrica is dispensed. I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT TWICE before taking this medication had I known.

This condition goes beyond physical and personal issues such as WORK, SCHOOL, the FINANCES&TIME W/DOCTORS. MY DETERIORATING MENTAL STATE RESULTED IN DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS, DEPRESSION, COMPULSIVE THINKING ABOUT THE LOSS OF MY LIMB and DEPERSONALIZATION. All I could do is look at my arm and stress, even causing issues with friends and family. It is not something easy to clear the mind of, such as a broken toe which you know will heal. This was the actual loss of the tool I use most, my hands and fingers.Any time I wanted to do anything, I was reminded that I might lose my arm (because I had to use my arm/hands to complete the action).I even saw a specialist who said I could have a procedure where they remove nerves from the thigh, and place them where the radial nerve should be functioning.

Such a concept made me sick to my stomach, the treatment may not work, mess up how my leg functions, cost allot of money and the constant stress and emotions of losing an appendage. This set me back a year and continues to be an issue. I missed a year of life stuck up in my head. A developing age for many to go out and fulfill their potential with progress. I on the other hand regressed, as I made no progress while aging at the same time, thus causing me mentally/successfully to be a year younger than I actually am! Thus tarnishing my confidence. In addition I could not perform well in school, constantly had mental meltdowns and over-all depression. Not the type of depression SSRI's are prescribed for, it was the type of depression that (not comparing my self to people who serve in the military) a trooper over seas loses an arm in an explosion. That is way more intense physically and mentally traumatic, but emotionally we both would experience the same grieving process and questions of WHY!!! WHY ME!!!?

Almost a year through this condition my doctor brought to light this was most likely caused by Lyrica after finding the studies supporting this idea. I discontinued and several months later my fingers could move (although was also influenced by physical therapy). That is another thing, to pay co-pays 3 times a week for such a large amount of time is ridiculous, and out of pocket costs not covered by insurance such as co-pays. I was lucky to have insurance, hah; that is a joke, as if anyone in this position is lucky. Sadly enough the reason I took this medication was due to another major regression for 3 years when I was a passenger on the freeway who was in an extreme accident caused by a drunk illegal Mexican who was deported and covered no compensation for medical bills, physical disabilities and distress caused by his actions. IF YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED A NERVE PALSY PLEASE CONTACT {edited for privacy}- SPREAD THIS AROUND AND MAYBE ALL OF US CAN BE COMPENSATED FOR THE SET BACKS TO OUR LIVES AND MEDICAL BILLS! PERHAPS A LEGAL SUIT CAN BE FORMED WITH THE POWER OF THE INTERNET!

Everyone is different , we all have a different chemical make up with different problems. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia(umbrella term for we don't know) and was given Lyrica . I was on it for about a year and experienced every 6 weeks or so and increase in mg. The manufactures recommend that 200mg 3 times a day is the max a person should take daily. Well when I reached that I was told by my RA that he was going to upper my dose still. I experienced so many side effects from having problems with my sight, hearing, and taste. I had so many symptoms from the Lyrica it made my life worse.

Doesn't MS cause nerve and muscle weakness and damage in itself? I hear so many people complain that Lyrica caused this or that but some of their conditions cause the symptoms that they are complaining about. It's hard to admit when your condition is worsening, far easier to blame a medication. When I hear that someone took a medication for less than a week and 5 years later it's still affecting their life, well it's just suspect to me, I guess it could happen?

I can't say for sure. Everyone is different. I know I chest issues felt as though my heart was going to burst out of it.They say fibro has trillion of symptoms,I think it is that doctors don't know what's wrong so its used as an umbrella term. I was on Lyrica for a year,200 mg 3 times a day the symptoms from the medicine made me realize that the fibro was so much manageable without it. I quit all of the meds ,still hurt some but capable to live my life.

Wow! I'm sorry that you went through this. I have had hand issues, they said it was carpal tunnel that I would need surgery once I gained control over my pain. I had about 20 percent use in my dominant hand and more in my other. I must say that as time continues from the time that I quit Lyrica ,I don't drop things as much and they only hurt at rare times.

I still think it is sad that they make the commercials as if it is the cure for all.

Kim I just started Lyrica to cover pain till I find new doc and to help with w/d from patch. I read quite a bit of side effects from Lyrica but most go away over time..The most common are a rash and feet, hand, tongue and throat swelling. I'm in my first week but first day did 150 first, then 75 every two hrs till bedtime then 150 again and 75 every hour. By the next morning I could actually sit calm and relax...ok I did my oxy last night and with Lyrica 75mg every other day, I actually could wait 6 hours to next opie...I'm a firm believer of looking up all manufacturer info cause aren't doing us right or according to how these meds were intended...I would look up Shingles and Lyrica and see what pops up!!!
