Dilaudid (Hydromorphone) is essentially liquid heroin and should be only prescribed for extreme cases of pain, due to the fact that it is highly ADDICTIVE.

Dilaudid is Hydromophone, it is no longer available in just a liquid, it comes in pills now as well, instant release. It is a very strong narcotic, yes, highly addictive but no more so than any other narcotics.

Also for chronic pain users, you are more apt to become dependent on the meds than you are to become addicted to them.

My doctor of seven years that helped me with my disability dropped me after his nurse and wife desided they didn't want me there anymore. My doctor knew my problems but they wanted me gone. Now I'm stuck at a meth clinic cause I was on 200 mg. per day. 600 tablets a day and I am suffering cause of that contract they have you sign but they don't have too. I can't find a doctor that takes medicaid and writes methadone. I'm in constant pain . The Emergency room said I am drug seeking, even though I told them the story the nurse sends them a different one and no one ever talks to the doctor. I found out he is By Polar and has gotten loud with some of his help without his meds. but his wife can't practice there anymore or at the hospital that is at the top of the hill from his office and neither can he. Can you help me?

I am sorry to say we cannot provide you with any help over the internet, this site does not prescribe or sell drugs here and it would be remiss and dangerous to do so.

You may have to give up Methadone, but there are plenty of docs that will treat you having Medicaid insurance, you just have to be cooperative with their ideas and stop demanding heavy narcotics immediately, also make sure to get a copy of your chart.

Your story seems very odd, there have to be some reason that doctor no longer wants to treat you and the hospital would not deny you meds if you were in there with a legitimate problem unless you have already been flagged in the computers as drug seeking. You said you were taking 600 tablets a day?? That makes no sense.

You mentioned the treatment contract, so I am assuming in some way you broke that agreement, correct?

I know this is SO yesterday but I saw this post and my mouth is still open at the amount of medication you claim to take and need. OMG 600 pills a day and you really wonder why your doctor stopped treating you? Shame on him for ever treating you. I know this is impolite but at the doses you are expecting, check with the local zoo and just ask them to hit you with one of their hippo darts. I'm sure they treat their large animals pain, see if you can get on their rotation. Dear G-d I hope you NEVER get cancer or any kind of illness that causes pain b/c you have created a level of tolerance that offers you only one option for pain relief and I am not kidding. You will need to be placed in a medically induced coma and how sad at what you will miss. This is the one area of treatments that I feel strongly that too many pain patients are not well informed about, especially if they come by their treatments from pill mills or doctors whose specialty is not pain management or their relationship with Big Pharma and money falls behind G-d and family.

Absolute poppycock. The so called twelve hourly Oxycontin never acts beyond 6 to 8 hrs and patients need breakthrough rescue medication. Though hydromorphone is mostly dispensed here in SR form from 2 to 24mg, there are instant release capsules of 1.3mg and 2.6mg available. Very fast onset of action. Rotated with the excellent Oxynorm, Diconal, Oakfium, and Actiq fentanyl lozenges, it is easy enough to work out equianalgesic doses for these situations, essential if your OC dose is 120mg bd. Rescue with hydromorphone in that scenario (my own) requires between 10 & 12mg prn max qds. This would require 3 each of 2.6 & 1.3mg caps, a possible 24 caps daily on top of the Oxycontin. But it is certainly a most suitable drug as, like the others mentioned, it has a very fast onset, and its action is relatively short.
And what is wrong with Heroin? My own father was a doctor. There is no way he would leave home without a selection of all available strengths of vials and 10mg diamorphine tablets for oral admin, though dipipanone was preferred because of faster action and the associated sedation. Diamorphine is the safest Rx drug to use in heart attack pain, least likely of any analgesic to cause complications or, heaven forbid, any BP or cardiovascular problems, something morphine nearly always carries along with exvessive nausea for which, if no Cyclimorph is in the bag, concomitant use of cyclizine is a must. But Heroin HCl is the best and safest; also first line treatment for road traffic accident injuries. I am sicj of seeing people writing about the most useful and benign acute analgesic as if it were a demon when quite to the contrary, it is a drug doctors simply can not operate to the best of their ability without. As is dipipanone. And hydromorphone is for MODERATE TO SEVERE PAIN, not as you with the PhD (in what? Blustering?) claim. What reference book are you reading to get that indication which is wrong? I can not believe you have taken it from ANY pharmacopoeia or formulary. None would make such a mistake in indication.

It had to bee a typo. Getting flagged is not hard. I went to the local hospital for pneumonia, they gave me a pain shot told me they could not treat my chronic pain. Sent me home. Spent the weekend sleeping sitting up. Went to my doc , she sent me to straight admit for pneumonia!

Cut my finger needed stitches , they treated me very bad. Accused me of cutting myself to get meds! I showed them my meds I had plenty I needed stitches! They gave me a hand out on chronic pain! I had to get my own gauze out of the drawer to wrap my hand it was bleeding!
