Dilaudid 8mg Migraines Help Please

Updated

I have been trying for something to fix my migraines for years. After trying preventatives my neurologist went to narcotics. I went through oxy percs injectable Demerol (100mg) and NOTHING worked as well as the Dilaudid has, my dr got banned from writing anything controlled for 3 years. I live in Tyler Tx. Someone PLEASE HELP ME. I have at least 15 migraines a month. I've been in and out of the E.R. so much its ridiculous since he got shut down.

Hello, Jamie! Sorry that you're so miserable.

Have you considered seeing a different doctor?

That's really going to be your only option to get the help you need, right now. Even if your current doctor isn't allowed to write for them, they should be able to refer you to someone that can take over your case and write prescriptions.

Learn more Dilaudid details here.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Do you currently have a PCP that you see regularly? If so, they should also be able to refer you to a new doctor that can help.

Yes I am going to see a different doctor. I do not have a choice. It didn't go straight to dilaudid. I had my first migraine at 6 years old and after a week of vomiting and not eating my parents took me to the E.R. They gave me a shot and it took it away. They started slamming me weekly and have been over the past 19 years. I was seeing a neurologist a few weeks after my first migraine. They are hereditary in my family. We tried many other methods FIRST before narcotics. Certain anti-depressants, many trip tans, imitrex gives me HORRIBLE side effects I get lock jaw and can't chew anything and makes my head worse. We've tried botox, acupuncture, massages, chiropractors, but NOTHING has worked BESIDES a narcotic pain medication. By the time I was 12 I was having to take around 75, 7.5 mg hydrocodones a month. My dr, my mom, and I were not thrilled about it but I was missing weeks of school at a time. Eventually I built up a tolerance to that and he switched me to Percocet, when it quit working oxy or Demerol, and sometimes Demerol will still work however Dilaudid has been the only thing GUARANTEED to work in a long time. I have a 6 year old daughter, her father died in a car accident in 2011 and these migraines are so debilitating that I can't work. It's put a strain on my parents. They're having to support me and her, and i'm aware how addicting it is. I've been dependent on pain meds since I was 16. The only time I came off was when I was pregnant. I almost lost my daughter during the detox but I REFUSED to go dose at the methadone clinic and my daughter come into this world opioid dependent and in the NICU for months weaning her off with morphine. I didn't want that for my child, I wanted to give her a fighting chance. PREGNANCY WAS HELL. Once a week i'd get to where I couldn't take it anymore and go get a shot to knock the pain out in the E.R. after I detoxed off of the medication. That would be the only day I could eat or drink. I only gained 15 pounds throughout the pregnancy because I was so sick with these migraines. I've been to the point for a long time where I would rather be physically dependent on the pain medication than to suffer EVERY day. Yes I wake up suffering from withdrawal but it goes away once the meds are in. I don't abuse them, I take them how I'm supposed to. We've tried everything under the sun from diet modification, holistic remedies, herbs, I just feel like my back is against the wall. I'm probably going to have a tubal done soon so I can't get pregnant again because I don't think I can physically go through such a miserable pregnancy again. My daughter has been the brightest thing in my life, but I can't even be the mother that I need to be right now and her father is gone. Only on days that I have a trip to the E.R. and that's no quality of life and it's not fair to her. My former neurologist is VERY hard to get a hold of and I really need to speak with him for a referral before my other medication refills run out or I will be in really deep trouble with a benzo detox. I have a tumor on my pituitary gland which doesn't help the migraines and I had some very traumatic things happen to me as a child that I suffer PTSD from along with finding the father of my child dead in a car, with two, 14 yr old girls who were family friends the were also dead, one of the girls heads was in the other one's lap. The image HAUNTS me every single night and I can't sleep which also doesn't help. Some people with chronic pain DO NOT HAVE A CHOICE but to be dependent on pain medicine. I HATE IT but I need to be a mom, I need to be working, and I need to be a productive tax paying American citizen, not laying in bed every single day or with my head in a toilet. I wish I had more options, but besides just offing myself there really aren't any. Some days i'm so incredibly discouraged I wish I were dead, BUT I have to fight because that's an incredibly selfish thing to do to my daughter the rest of my family and the other people that care about me. PCP's where I live at will NOT refer you to a pain management doctor. They are real b****es about it, especially to someone in their 20's. I won't give up because I CAN'T I was just seeing if someone in my area knew of a DR who is willing to write what I really do need (not what I want)to survive, and be productive and not a burden.

hi! you might want to ask your doc or the e.r. doc for a prescription of fioricet or fioricet with codeine. I have had migranes since I was 14 and I am now55 and this medication really helps.

Fioricet with or without codine never helped my migraines. I suffered severely since i started menstrating and now that i stopped, the migraines got so much better. Try stadol ns. It an opiate nasl spray. Becareful though, its addicting too.

My cronic migraines started @12 years old. I am now 77 and have auras with migraine
almost daily and nothing seems to help. I have tried everything, even the daith ear piercing
a few weeks ago. One neurologist recently (march) put me on amtriptline and verapamil
for preventing and after a couple weeks I went into halucinations, horrible for 11 days.
I quit taking any pain meds then, as didn't know what reacted against what. I am having
so many now and so much pain, I have gone back to balab-acetamin-caff 5, (furoset)
Mine if not the furoset w/codene. guess they are different. am going to ask doctor about it.

I get severe migraines as well from Shari malformation to I was born with it but I also take Dilaudid 8 milligrams and Fioricet it's a miracle pill when it comes to the migraines!! You just have to make sure that you take them everyday as a preventative and also when you have a migraine if you take them everyday and also when you are getting symptoms of a migraine starting. you will never have a serious migraine again. ** PLZ ASK YOUR DOCTOR AND FAMILY ABOUT " SHARIE MALFORMATION II. Its heredity as well.

Sorry you have such bad headaches. But I can tell you now whoever is prescribing Dilaudid for migraines, is an *****. Dilaudid is horrible for headaches. In fact it can make it worse. I have read many arrivals on this....mainly because I had meningitis TWICE and that's what they were giving me. Morphine helped the most. Sorry.
