Dia Quel

I have a bottle of Dia-quel in my medicine cabinet. Contains tincture of opium, homatropine methylbromide, and pectin. For diarhea. I can't find any info on it. What is it? Is it an antique? Safe to take?

Dear Donna, I looked up Diaquel 4 u. It says it's a benzodiazepine derivative tranquilizer. It provides anticonvulsant, central muscle relaxant effect. I hope this helps.

The details I've come across also state that Diaquel is a benzodiazepine class drug (more commonly known as Diazepam).

Although from reading your description it sounds like you probably have a different product altogether.

Do you know where the medication originated from or who might've manufactured it?

Perhaps that'll give us some more clues to work with as we continue to search for relevant information.

It was manufactured by the International Pharmaceutical Corporation in King of Prussia, PA.

This used to be sold in pharmacies in that area of Pennsylvania (Bucks County) as an anti-diarrheal med. It was kept with the pharmacist behind the counter. One did not need a prescription but you had to show your license and sign for it. It worked well.
