I am trying to do a rapid detox but I am decreasing 5mg every 3 days, I am at 20mg now, I was at 40, when I started 8 years ago I was at 180mg! I am starting to really feel the effects and I wanted to know if anyone had any advice on anything that could help me get through this because this is my second attempt, I failed the first time, I never got past 25mg, well I hit 20mg for 1 day. PLEASE let me know of anything that may help....thank you very much....

Hello, Margie! How are you doing?

Methadone is high addictive and very, very hard to detox from. A rapid detox is likely a bad idea and most likely why it didn't work the first time.

Most people never get off of Methadone and require a maintenance dose for life, the few that are successful do so only with medical help and a very slow detox procedure.

Learn more Methadone details here.

Have you consulted your doctor for assistance?

I am withdrawing from 180 mil down at a rate of 20 per day less and at day 6. Is there anything that can help me with symptoms while I am doing this at home? Any natural cures for my stomach, and diarrhea? My emotions are ok, It is just that my stomach is giving me fits. Please help.

Way to fast my friend. 5mg a week is better but still fast. Whn you get to 15mg a day you'll not be doing this I guarentee. At that point, 1mg drop a week is prdent. Remember it took you a while to get this screwed up. Slow it down for your own good. Remember the half life of this stuff is something you need to know. Good luck.
I'll prayfor you now.

Ii said before knowing what i know now i would not get on methadone ? why, because of getting off everybody is different but when that done (methadone) gets in your system over a number of years the success rate is very low it takes a lot of willpower . I Know a couple of things you can take if you want let me know i am not a Doctor you will have to get this on your own . Good Luck,Bless.

I got kicked out of the methadone clinic after being there 8 months on 120mg. I didnt recieve any taper or suboxone. I survived 7 days with minimal withdrawls if any at all. I thought i had beat the methadone and i felt good like i had beat the odds. HAAA little did i know i was in for the worst surprise of my life!! after day 7 i started having trouble sleeping skip to day 10 BAMMM withdrawls hit me and honest to god didnt stop till day 28 then slwoly i was able to sleep 20 min at a time which increased each nap by around 10 min+. My advice to users only go on methadone if you plan on living and staying in that area where you recieve it till you die. otherwise i dont see a point in getting on it. All your doing is gurenteeing yourself a long painful withdrawll, i always new that so i felt trapped. prisoner to the clinic. No vacations, no anything. in the back of my head i knew one day i would have to face the demon coming out of me a painful withdrawl. get on subutex or suboxone only use them for a week to kick opiod withdrawls then keep a few around give them to your paretns or someone who doesnt want to see you relapse for emrgency cravings. Basically everything you have done before you have to change and stay positive in everything. pray for strength

Xanax. It helps the withdrawal. Also, slow down. Go 1 or 2 mgs a week. You're really going fast. I'm being forced to go off 2 mgs a day. But Xanax helps a lot. Also alergy pills for the runny nose, pills for diarrhea, ibuprofen for aches and gabapentin if you can get some help a lot too. Wish you the best.

Hello and I'm sorry you're so miserable. I'm also rapid detoxing, 2 mgs a day, what I've done is bought some extra tablets to ease myself down a little slower. That may not be what you want to do but there really isn't much choice other than going down more slowly. You will feel some discomfort no matter what your approach but think of the benefits! It's time to get off. I wish you well.

I have the perfect solution! I'm doing it myself right now. I'm on day 4 w/o methadone and have had NO withdrawal. The answer is kratom. Kraken kratom to be exact. I've been taking 2 huge tsp. About 3 times a day and it takes it all away. I warn you it tastes like ass but mix with a small amount of grapefruit juice and chug coffee right after and it's not too bad. Its a miracle herb!!! I'm finally becoming free. Painlessly. I promise. Let me know if you have further questions. {edited for privacy}. Wishing you the best.

Kratom is the answer. It took away ALL my withdrawal. Red vein of any sort is best.. Take two huge taps 3 x a day for about a week or two. Research. Its a miracle herb. Take my word I detoxed off methadone myself.

Methadone detox can be done. Don't give up. If I can do it, anyone can do it. I did a slow taper detox over 2 years, decreasing monthly by only a few milligrams. When I got to 1 mg per day for about 2-3 weeks, I stopped however I used other medications to suppress any side effects I might have. Luckily, I only used clonidine and Xanax for a short time before I started to feel normal. Staying on methadone for long periods of time (years), it will cause males to have a low testosterone level. I now have to take Androgel 1.62% testosterone gel every day to keep my levels up. It's important to find a good doctor to help prescribe meds if you are serious about stopping methadone. Like me, I went to a clinic to get my methadone however the medical director did not prescribe anything to help with the withdrawals. It is their attempt to keep you on methadone for the remainder of your life but I beat that addiction to methadone and was able to slowly decrease my dosage. My detox was a breeze but I hear that other people struggle with it. If I can help you, let me know.

Gabapentin and Clonazapam will ease withdrawal symptoms and mood. Clonodine will keep your BP down and taper off the methadone slower, unless your on a 21 day detox or some other reason, you should titrate down slowly using benzos and gabapentin for anxiety and depression and gabapentin helps the cold sweats, and the restless legs syndrome too. Easy does it

Kratom is s***ty in my opinion. Loperamide hydrochloride 2mg (immodium) will take methadone withdrawal symptoms away. It is an opiate. Good luck.

Gee that's helpful, reminding her of how sick she's going to be!!!! I know you probably meant it in a good way, by following up with the really clean comment, but she probably doesn't need to be reminded of how "real sick" she's going to be.....

Hi there i'm jay, newbie. Hope you get dis message bbs as i didnt even look at how old your post is. Anyway you have done well getting from 120 to 40 but the 40 to 25 or 20 is a lot harder. I've been on 40 now for a few months. I also got down to 20 which i believe is the perfect dose to get down to. To switch to suboxone or subutex well here in uk 30 mls of methadone or below 20 being ideal is good to switch over as your withdrawls hit you on these low dosages a lot quicker and harder and the doc wants to see you in withdrawals first before the switchover anyway. I too couldnt handle 20 and bottled the switch so i went straight back to 40 again. Anymore than 40 for an addict is greed, thats just my opinion. So to i think answer your question im stuck on 40 too. Sorry my memory is gone. Too many benzos. Stay off them please. One love.

I took short acting opiates for 3 weeks after 1.5 years of suboxone (last 6 months on only 2mgs/day), and took the ibogaine and felt amazing when my ibogaine had finally worn out. I still feel great and right after it felt better than i would have a year after stopping my suboxone.
