Detox Off Xanax How Long Does It Take 4mg Day

Updated

been on xanax for 9 years for grave's disease. All of a sudden my doctor refuses to write this drug anymore. So I am trying to get off them and yet after 1 month it has a hold on me and super high pulse rates that range from 105-91-then after1 pill it goes to normal 72. Been trying to drop down 1 pill a month and yet I have major problems. WHY IS THAT ??Someone please explain. thanks

Xanax is well known to be habit forming and, after taking it for a very long period of time, stopping it is known to cause withdrawal effects, as well as the risk of seizures.

The FDA lists benzodiazepines as causing depression of the central nervous system, which means it slows things down, including your heart rate, stopping abruptly may cause a rebound effect, which is why you'd experience the pulse rate elevation, until you take another one.

It will really just be a matter of time, for your body to adjust to no longer taking it. But, it would be best to do a slow taper of your dosage, with your doctor's assistance and supervision.

What type of doctor have you been seeing? Perhaps a specialist would help you more.

I lost my Xanax should I just try to get it refilled or tell the Dr the truth

Hello, Linda! How are you? I'm sorry about what happened.

It would be best to be honest with your doctor. If you're needing a refill early, they are going to find out about it, anyway.

How short will you be?

I'm not sure a Physician would know if you refill them early in all states, especially those that don't have an active drug monitoring program. I would never put myself in a position to lose all my Xanax. I would also try to somehow make sure you have extra Xanax if you must take the drug. Xanax is deadly poison and will knock you on your butt if discontinued in most cases. I just had a full physical a couple hours ago and told this to my newer PCP who had switched me to Klonopin 2 years ago. I tried it, I liked it, but used my spare Xanax instead. I told him what happened to me 4 years ago being hospitalized after a withdrawal. He totally agreed what the medicine can do, most will just tell you how addictive they are then asking me if I wanted more. I told him we should wait until I return in a few weeks with my Lab results for blood work. He also asked me if I wanted refills of Soma?. Again I asked him to wait until I return to his office in a few weeks. While this is not the same provider who allowed me to stock up on Xanax, PCP's are still writing for this medicine and being asked if I wanted more today really makes me appreciate the role of a caring family doctor. True story, happened at 1:30 this afternoon

Also to the O/P even though this is an older question going from 4 mg a day to one pill a day is not advised under ANY circumstances. The effects you have felt is one of the many side effects from stopping. If this happens to anyone else GET to an ER as a stroke or death can happen. Doctors that cut you off like this should face criminal charges and have no clue what they are doing. There are proven withdrawal methods and formulas but cutting to one pill a month is not advised and I'm sorry this has happened. You should always seek other providers to help you and not accept this type of medical malpractice.

The truth is usually best. However, be prepared to get a police report of the incident. Unfortunely, and because so many people abuse the system, this is sometimes necessary in obtaining a controlled substance.

Sounds like a nice and caring doctor because taking a patient off this medication is dangerous and csn potentially kill you. Doctors who put someone on these meds and then suddenly stop are cruel and know the potential agony the patient will experience. That is malpractice sincr for an example my dr cut me off i could have a seizure and wreck into something or a car containing your family. Who do you think would win in court?

Xanax is a strong opioid to detox off. However, I did twice. 5 years later the high anxiety and panic stacks came back. I could have caused brain damage when I tried in 1985 to kill myself. GOD SAID no, he had work for me to do. My job is to let you know when you feel these attacks call on Jesus to pop the pill in half. That is to get it into your system. I would say half hour later take the other piece. Most times it works. It relaxes the nerve.

When I have a bad attack I take 1 and a half of another sometimes 18 hours go past before I need to medicate again. Doctors think they know but they don't know your thoughts, your feeling, or the fear that is indescribable. I just wish enough of them could watch their children suffer from this mental disease and see if they would be so readily to take them off?
