Degranol Side Effects

What can you tell me about Degranol side effects? I have been on these tablets for 18 months now using 600mg a day.
I have gained a lot of weight. I sufferer from major depression. I do not have epilepsy or other symptoms related to epilepsy. I find lately that my mouth gets dry and I seem to get a sore throat but it feels as if I'm getting tonsillitis on the right side of my throat. My family informed me that I'm getting aggressive at times. I'm not aware of this at all. I do know at times that I get agitated with certain things happening in our daily lives. What must I do? Must I go to my psychiatrist and ask to be taken off these tablets or use a lower dosages?

Most of these medications can cause mood swings, or personality changes as side effects, according to the NIH.

So yes, you should speak to your doctor about switching to a different medication, since these symptoms tend to get worse with time.

I'm responding to my previous complaint mentioned above..I am a stats pensioner. I have mentioned it to the psychiatrist attending to me after i was forced to leave my private doctor due to costs. My throat has gotten worse and a sonar was done by the states radiologist who could not detect anything wrong. I have been scheduled to have another sonar done next year on the 21st of February 2017 but i must swallow a certain white fluid (I think they said birem) to show the area better, as what ever is there seems to be hidden. My wife is concerned as i have outbursts of anger which was not apparent before i started using these tablets. I am using 600mg per day which is equivalent to 200mg three times a day to prevent my mood swings.

It sounds as if your being tested for a thyroid irregularity. These symptoms you mentioned can stem from your thyroid not functioning properly. The test you described is a barium swallow a lab in your case run to check for growth over a period of time. This condition can be complex and difficult to diagnose. The degrenol side effects may be complicating your condition. I WOULD HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR ASAP and report the effects you've been experiencing. Only a medical professional familiar with your history can decipher what alternatives may be available to you. My mom recently was diagnosed with a thyroid issue and it can be a challenging to diagnose and treat. I hope you find the answer to the effects you described. God speed....

I further reviewed this drug and it contains black box warnings. It can be used for a variety of conditions and has indeed caused substantial side effects. As for what purpose it was prescribed only your doctor can tell you. I certainly do not want to alarm you but it's always better to be safe then sorry, so contact your doctor and discuss these concerns with him. Hope you feel better soon.

I have in the recent months described my side effects on degranol here. I would like to inquire on a further issue that is causing me great pain and discomfort!! If i stand still for more than 15 to 20 minutes my right leg starts paining from above the knee cap to my right hip in the front muscle..the pain progresses to such a excruciating pain that i must sit down as my leg by then is numb. I have been to my GP about it and his opinion is that a nerve is pinching at the lower part of my spine. This has been going on for more than a year now. Suddenly my left leg is having the same symptoms.

My daughter Karen was put on a drug called tergrinol which is the original tablet name in the USA which was stopped by her psychiatrist as she was experiencing swollen cheeks and her tongue was swollen and had no feeling in either of her cheeks or tongue. Her leg muscles where also giving her problems as it felt as if electric shocks where pulsing through both her legs causing her discomfort and pain. He immediately stopped giving her this medication and it took her a few months to recover from these side effects!!! She still has some issues in her cheeks but much better and her tongue is also not fully recovered yet.

I'm given you this full report as I never had pains in my leg muscles. Now i cannot go to a shopping mall or other shops where i must stand for more than 15 to 20 minutes; then all hell brakes lose and i must find a place to sit down. Has anyone else experienced such a side effect when put onto degranol or tegranol 200mg x3 per day?
