This is a very mild, narcotic analgesic, Propoxyphene (100mgs) is the opiate and APAP is just medical speak for Acetaminophen (650mgs.)

Some of the most common side effects include: drowsiness, dry mouth, nausea and constipation.

Unfortunately, there are no real substitutes for Darvocet N 100; the medical establishment through no fault of their own, tells people to try this one or that one etc.
This medication was for mild to moderate pain, and the reason it was popular was that people took it who didn't want a "high", it allowed them to function, and it relieved their pain.(my opinion).
