Cutting An Ms Contin In Half

I Take ms60 mg er, I know the pill Hell's up if crushed, however these pills are strong and really affect my breathing but work great for severe pain. My question is; can I cut the 60mg er pill in half without destroying the pill? I'm not snorting or shooting, would only like to take less at tines, especially before bed.

I have done it successfully but after what I've read, that u can overdose by doing this and releasing all at once, I don't recommend it.
The most prudent thing to do is get in to see dr right away and explain to him; he could prescribe 30 mg tablets. They go down to 15 I think. Whatever u do , don't tell your dr about considering cutting them! Mine yanked me off when he found out I'd been cutting them to cut down. PS a pharmacist told me it was OK to bit all the Internet says is NO!!

Splitting MS Contin tablets will not increase peak morphine serum levels enough to overdose if one has been taking it for a month or more.
Even crushed these tabs are still resistant to instant release but more importantly, about 50% of the morphine is destroyed by stomach acids.
One actually achieves higher blood serum levels by ingesting intact tablets as they are designed to survive passage through the stomach before beginning the main release of the medication. in the small intestine..
I never discuss any self dosing experiments with my Dr..
Doctors don't like their patients using their own judgement.
