Contrave 1 Pill 4 Times A Day

I have been on Contrace for 6 weeks now, and am very pleased with the results. I was prescribed contrave due to severe endometriosis and other hormonal issues I was having. I didnt start taking it until 5 weeks ago, about 3 months after my hysterectomy. I am 28, and am going through serious hormonal stuff along with menopause, and I would diet and exercise yet nothing was happening with my weight. So I decided to start my contrave to help, and it has really moved things along for me. However, when I got to week 4 and upped my daily dosage to 2 i the AM and 2 in the PM, I experienced some serious nausea and dizziness; blinding optic nerve headaches. I understand that these are common side effects, but I have 2 small children and cannot live that way. So I decided to try taking 1 pill every 6 hours, and I haven't experienced any side effects at all and still feel great, energized and no cravings.

My question is, will this slow my weight loss down? Will it not work the same as it was before? Is it bad for my health to space them out that close together? Please, any feed back in helpful!

I would like to start by saying congratulations on the weight loss.

I would advise you to consult your doctor about taking medication at different dosages or intervals than instructed. Even though you may be taking the same amount of active and inactive ingredients during a 24 hour window it doesn't guarantee those ingredients will affect your body and mind in the same way. There is always a risk involved in taking medication in a manner not specified by a medical professional.

Reportedly Contrave works by effectively assisting your brain into curbing your cravings for non nutritional sources of food.

I would also suggest you talk to your doctor about the side effects that the medication is causing you at the prescribed dosage because often these side effects tend to wane as you continue to take them.

I had extreme nausea on Contrave as well on the 2 pills AM, 2 pills PM routine and have started spacing them out as well. I feel so much better. Although I do not see the harm in it, I’m going to ask my doctor if I can do this until my body gets used to the regular dosage. I can’t find any information on this. Your comment is the only thing I found in my search!

I really like the idea of taking it 4 times a day. I am going to try it. I feel terrible after taking my 2 pills, usually about 2 - 3 hours after taking them. I always feel sleepy and my head is always cloudy and I have a headache every single day.. I have been on Contrave for 5 weeks now and have lost 5 pounds. Not sure it is worth it.
