Confused Taking Xarelto

My son is 23 and have DVT in his left calf. Doctor prescribe Xarelto 15 mg 2 times a day for 21 days - he took 2 days (4 pills) and second day he have headache and dizziness, nose bleading and heart rate was 108. Very scared - dont know what to do. Should he still take Xarelto? Is this side effects will go away if he will be still taking this medication? Please anyone answer me if you know... Thank you.

Hello, Alla! How is your son?

With the nose bleed and elevated heart rate, he needs to contact his doctor to see what he should do. He may need to stop this medication, or switch to a different one, however, he should not stop taking it, unless his doctor instructs him to do so.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of this mediation as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising.

Thank you for answering. We did see cardiologist, Thank God, my son feel better and don't have that side effects any more. Doctor said that it's more anxiety than side effect from Xarelto, but told us to watch if it's happens again call him. My son take Xarelto for eight days already and feel better, we will go for ultrasound in two weeks. Hopefully blot clot will be dissolved...
