I have just begun taking toprolol ER 25 mg for high blood pressure. I have a cold and want to know if I can take Dayquil medicine for my cold. If not what can I take?

Marilynn, if the formulation of Dayquil that you are taking contains Phenylephrine, then no, it can cause blood pressure elevations, so it is generally contraindicated in anyone with high blood pressure, or a cardiac condition, according to FDA warnings.

Loretta the FDA also warns that taking them both can increase the severity of certain side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, and drowsiness.
