Hi, I doubt a highly potent Antipsychotic like Chlorpromazine will help you feel less anxious. It is one of the older drugs and has some horrendous side-effects. Lorazapam helps your symptoms but Antipsychotics are likely to make you feel much worse. Go back and ask your Doctor why you've been given an antipsychotic when you don't have a psychotic condition.

Hello, Dave! How are you?

Antipsychotic medications, such as Chlorpromazine, tend to be very calming and cause sedation, so that's likely why it was prescribed. Your doctor is trying to help you get your condition under control.

Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, sedation, drowsiness and weight changes.

Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi Dave,
If you are suffering from a psycotic condition, antipsychotics can help. But they do have very serious and extremely uncomfortable side-effects if you are, for example suffering for an Autistic Spectrum Condition. Aspergers or High Functioning ASD.But your symptoms sound, to me, Possibly AS. I say this because my son sufferered all the same symptoms and was diagnosed with everything you have. He has a whole list of the type of symptoms you describe and eventually diagnosed with schizophrenia in 1999. Years of agony after that with every type of antipsychotic under the sun. All of which made him suffer terribly. He was eventually, in 2009, reassessed and diagnosed with a high functioning autistic condition. If I were you, before going down the road of such a potent, and possibly very harmful solution, I would suggest a reassessment by professionals who are expert in diagnosing autistic conditions. Autistic Spectrum is impossible to spot if there is insufficient knowledge of these conditions. Antipsychotics are indicated for ASD's
