Clonidine Severe Allergic Reaction
UpdatedI was prescribed clonidine weekly patches to help with hot flashes. Worked great for hot flashes; continued with patches, other symptoms began and I thought they were peri-menopausal. After several months my skin began to itch, shortly after itch then I developed a rash; wearing patch became intolerable. I just stopped wearing the patch. But then those hot flashes were unbearable and went back to Dr. requesting the medication in pill form. Dr. obliged, and I thought I was a happy camper. But. . . I had a severe allergic reaction. Eyes swollen, head and body aches, drowsy, just felt really weird. Looked on internet and found that I had been having numerous severe side effects for months. My question is how long will it take for the symptoms to subside.

I am very sorry about what happened. It may take a week, or two, for all of the symptoms to go away, so things return to normal.
Are you trying anything else for the perimenopause symptoms?
I've had good luck taking Prozac for mine, since it helps prevent the hot flashes and the irritability. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. It's an idea you could discuss with your doctor.
