What opiates have you tried?

Fentanyl may be an option, if you've exhausted the others. It's the most potent one available and is usually prescribed in a skin patch that is changed every 48 to 72 hours. It's an idea you could discuss with your doctor.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Thanks Version. Let me explain a little more about what has happened. I went through chemo for stage 3 lymphoma a year ago and since that time I have fractured 2 vertabrael in my spine. The first vertabrae I had the kyphoplasty done and got relief for a week or so and now it seems as if the vertabrae I had it done to is worse off than before. This is when the Dr. Discovered that my spine was all kinds of twisted and the arthritis was chronic. He stated that normally they do not put you to sleep but that it would have been to painfull for me to take semiconscious. Needless to say about 5 months later I fractured another vertabrae in my lower back and decided against kyphoplasty and opted for a brace and more pain meds on top of what I was getting. Right now I am prescribed 2-60 mg oxycontin and 3-10 mg percosett daily but I only get 12 to 14 hrs of relief between the two. Let me also mention that I have kyphoscoliosis and deg. Disc. Disease since 2001 and have had all the shots,etc done to no avail. I will certainly check into fentanyl. Thanks so much, David
