Is it safe for my baby, taking this antibiotic in my 1st trimester?...Any possible side effects to the baby? Is it ok to stop the medication? Please advise.

Hello, Maria! How are you?

Yes, the U.S. FDA lists this antibiotic as being safe during pregnancy.

Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

Is there anything else I can help with?

My wife just completed a full course of Cefuroxime in her 6th month of pregnancy as prescribed for pneumonia. Now she is suffering from strep throat. Is it OK to start taking antibiotics to treat her strep throat right after completing a course of Cefuroxime?
