Cefuroxime Axetil

I WAS GIVEN THIS FOR A SPIDER BITE. I AM NOT SURE WHAT THE DRUGS PURPOSE IS. I THINK IT IS A STERIOD TO REDUCE INFLAMMATION. DOES THIS SEEM CORRECT?

I am living in China so I always like to check things out ASAP when ever I have to see a doctor here. Anyhow my daughter, who is almost 18 months had a fall today and broke her collar bone. X-ray showed a nice clean break no problem so he recommended a brace which I expected but for some reason he also prescribed Cefureoxime Axetil 125mg. I of course just Googled this and I'm a bit surprised at him giving her an antibiotic. I don't speak Chinese but and my wife not knowing medical English just said it's supposed to help her blood. Considering the overuse and abuse of antibiotics in China and considering I have found no creditable reason for her to take it I am not giving it to her. I wanted to ask here does anyone know of a reason why this drug would be prescribed for a simple fracture?

Hi, I'm Raymond. I have been in the hospital to check my urine, coz i feel pain every time i urinate. The doctor prescribed me cefuroxime axetil betcef 500mg and sambong leaf, but nothing is happening and I haven't experienced any sign of improvement. Please advise.

This is an antibiotic that is used to treat, or prevent various types of bacterial infections. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea.

American Daddy, no, I am not aware of any reason it would be given for a simple fracture, with no complications, or etc. I think the issue of more concern, however, is to explore what happened that caused an 18 month old child to experience a break in her collar bone. When they are younger, children are far more flexible than adults, so it is odd for them to experience such a break. I am not a doctor, but it might be best to have her bone density checked out to be sure there are no underlying health issues. There's a chance it is nothing, but it never hurts to double check, for your daughter's health. How is she doing, now?

Lynlyn, how are you doing? Has there been any change? How long have you been taking it? It can take a few days for an antibiotic to start working.

Cefuroxime Axetil has been prescribed to a 4 year old child. The expiration date is in 2017. They have been experiencing diarrhea since taking from Oct 2nd to 5th. Is this a normal side effect?

I have pneumonia and have been on Cefuroxime Axetil 500 for 4 days. I am breaking out with this itchy rash with pimples all over my stomach and inside my legs. Is this normal and what should I do to stop it?

Its not for a bone fracture its an antibiotic. Get a second opinion call a doctor on the states.

You have to remember that diarrhea can cause dehydration. Sometimes an antibiotic that is to strong of mg can do that. Depending on why it was prescribed to begin with. Always read the information (if given ) about the drug from the pharmacy. Call the Dr.or Pharmacist if your unsure. They dont always get it right. CALL Them

It's not a steroid its antibiotic. What type of spider bite? Brown Recluse spider bites which are very bad if not treated correctly. Most ppl even hospitals don't realize the antidote for that spider is a steroid called prednisone. An there is also a pill to take to keep the skin/muscle with will rot die and sloughs out leaving a large hole sometimes ppl need skin grafts or surgery. Also a tetanus shot my be good if your not up to date. Watch for a red streak which goes from the bite to towards the heart. Very painful bite and will still leave scaring. Can sometimes be fatal.
