Can Pliva 334 Be Used For Horse Infected Skin

I've been gone for a couple weeks. My horse has a long gash? inside his ear and I'm not sure what cause it. It looks infected and has different looking areas around it. I found a tick there a day after finding his ear this way. I have some Pliva 334 that was previously prescribed for him. Can it be used for this infection of skin?
