Can I Take Doxycycline With Methadone?

Hi I'm on 118 mg of methadone and I was just prescribed 100 mg of doxycycline. Since I've started taking this combination I have been experiencing withdrawal symptoms. About 30 minutes after I take my antibiotic I start getting leg cramps, sneezed and about a hour after i take it I'm on the toilet with the diarrhea. I don't know if its an effect of taking both or just the antibiotic

According to the NIH drug interaction checker there should be no issue with taking these two medications together. It's possible that the doxycycline is causing these problems. Among the listed side effects of docycycline diarrhea is one of them as well as mild discomfort but it doesn't specify which type of discomfort. I think that your leg cramping up is a pretty decent indicator that your body is not responding well to the medicine and I do suggest that your bring this up with your doctor.

My wife just had the EXACT same thing happen to her. We are dosing off methadone and she has to go back up 6 mgs just to cpunter act it and feel better so it isn't just the doxycycline.

I take methadone and asked the clinic I go to and they told me specifically these 2 shouldn't be mixed will cause near immediate withdrawals
