Can A Written Norco Prescription From Eldorado Ar Be Filled At Any Louisianapharmacy

Trying to fill a written prescription from my Dr., in south Arkansas of NORCO while I'm in Lousiana on vacation & no pharmacy will fill my prescription??? Why??

There is a new law in Louisiana that states any Schedule II rx written by a dr that doesn't have a Louisiana License to practice medicine will only be filled for a 10 days supply. The dr will be called and informed as to why it was filled for the full amount. Although this doesn't prevent a pharmacy from filling the rx, it is all I can think if that could be the reason why they wouldn't.

Most pharmacies will no longer fill out of state prescriptions for controlled substances, due to the fact that it is harder for them to verify the legitimacy of the prescription.

Another problem is the mandatory limits that the DEA has set for how much they can order and keep in stock each month. It is based on their size and average customer base/demand. Once they run out, they cannot order a new supply, until the following month. This has caused many pharmacies to set limits on who they will fill prescriptions for, they often require that, when it comes to controlled substances, both the doctor and patient be located within a certain radius of the store.

The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

I am in California. I am from Idaho. My sister lives in California; she had knee replacement surgery and I came to help her. Before I left my doctor wrote me my prescription for Norco because I would run out while here. I cannot find a pharmacy that will fill my prescription. Does anyone know if this is due to Onamacare?

TRY FILLING YOUR PRESCRIPTION VIA MAIL-ORDER. THEY CAN FILL AND OVER NIGHT IT TO YOU SOMETIMES.

August 1, 2014, Louisiana State Law changed and if you get a Schedule II prescription filled in Louisiana that was written by a dr in another state and the dr does not have a license to practice medicine in Louisiana, you can only get a 10 days supply of the medications and you can't get it again for 90 days if it is written for the same med by the same dr. The pharmacist will call the dr out of state that wrote it and explain the change in law.
