Can Taking Klonopin Keep Me From Getting A Job As A Drug Counselor

I take 1 mg of Klonopin and just applied for a position as a Primary Counselor at a Drug Treatment program. Will they hold it against me that I take Klonopin and not hire me. I have mild anxiety and cant sleep often so that is why my doctor wrote the script for me. I don't take it 2x's per day as prescribed, because 1 works right before bedtime. My anxiety decreases and it allows me to relax and get some sleep. But I am concerned it will keep me from getting this job I really want. Which is not fair because I have a prescription but its a drug treatment program and I don't want them to think my anxiety will be a barrier to me performing the job. The job I just quit was aware and it was not a problem for them that I take Klonopin. The Director was getting our psychiatrist to give her a script from Xanax.

Hello,

From an outside perspective, I don't think you should have a problem taking most types of medications on the job, as long as it's legal; and clear to the employer that it doesn't interfere with your ability to complete tasks at work.

To my understanding, a doctor's note and/or a copy of your prescription, can vouch for you in the event that it becomes an issue.

I also think that the way you carry yourself is of equal importance. Whereas, they may simply overlook this if they have no reason to think you're hiding something.
