Burning Tongue Sensation/suboxone

Updated

Hi I have a question, I take Suboxone for opias withdrawal and I have been on them for almost 3 years in June! I have not had this sensation the whole time I been on it but I have noticed it in the last year or so! I have burning tongue sensation I think, I have googled it and I have all of the symptoms that were listed and I also have diabetes too so they said it can come from that too but I think it might be something in my Suboxone's either an active ingredient or a non-active ingredient, I'm not sure but I do know it is very painful, and very frustrating too so I'm looking for any type of suggestions to help me out, I feel like I'm losing my mind!!

I know this post is old. But there is always new people coming along. Soooo...... here is another thing to concider. You would be shocked by how many people develope chemical sensitivities. Not just to medicines. But everyday products. Like lotions and cleaners like windex. Perfumes scented soaps can cause burning mouth syndrome. Laundry soaps and fabric softer. Even ur makeup! Even hair products. The other thing these products can cause is HEART BURN!! And make u feel HUNGRY. WEIRD isn't it. But it is true. Oddly one of the things that does it to me is scented kitty litter. Lol. I always used the same brand. No problems. My brand was out of stock one day, so I tried another brand. I started getting heart burn that nite. I never would have heart burn. Not even from food. Or going to bed to soon after eating. Anyway, one day my cat jumped into my lap to be pet. About 5 minutes later the heart burn came on fast and got really bad. Then I realized I could actually smell the kitty litter. My cat had just come from using her litter box. My mouth and tounge began to burn and then the heart burn darted up. It wasn't from my cat. It was from the left over litter and the perfumes added to it.

I tested this so many times in many diff ways. being in a car with women wearing body lotions or perfumes. OMG.
Raw tounge - Burning mouth big time ! Laundry soaps are actually left in our clothing now. What with the new top load low water washers, there just isn't enough water and water movement for the soaps and softners to be rinsed out of ur clothing. You put on a shirt. A little later ur mouth starts to burn. Your body heat makes the residue laundry soaps in ur clothing release. Your mouth and nose are only a few inches from the shirt ur wearing. U r breathing in the soap and softener " vapors". This is a real thing. Wonder why ur hungry right after u eat? Perfumes and lotions.
Do a test and see. It's not the smells u r reacting to, it's the chemicals that make them up. U dont really think that bottle of fab softener with the pic of roses on it has rose extract do u??? No it's doesn't. It's all chemicals. Even if it did the rose extraction process is done with petroleum products. In fact it's so bad for me now, I can't even go for walks outside on weekends cuz everyone is doing the laundry. The air is just filled with the cloying toxic scent of frabric softener and laundry soaps oooozing out of the dryer vent. It not only burns my mouth and tounge, it makes dizzy too. Google perfumes and burning mouth or scented lotions and burning mouth.

U also might read about MCS. MULTIPLE CHEMICAL SENSITIVITY. ALL THE THINGS WE USE R TOXIC. I used to laugh and think ur just a crazy alarmist when I'd hear people talk about this. Turns out it's true. I got MCS from my years of wearing perfumes. EXPENSIVE perfumes. Now I react to all sorts of chemicals that never bothered me.
Started with my mouth. But over the years as it got worse, it began to make my face burn. Just being in line behind a woman wearing perfume would affect me. Yes, this is different. My case is more extreme than just burning tounge and mouth. but this can happen with any chemical at any time. Or may not. U can't know. All those yummy lotions that are sold at body shops, bad stuff. Really ? Carmel butterscotch lotions. Only has chemicals from pretrolium based products. Your breathing it in AND spreading it all over ur body. It doesn't wash out of your clothes well either.
And little babies have it the worst. Their tiny little newborn selfs, lotions up head to toes in a special baby safe formula, chosen by the person that loves them and wants to protect them forever. all wrapped up in the APRIL FRESH soap and softhers. Their clothes. Their sheets their blankets, all nicely tucked in. even swaddled into that mess of chemicals. Breathing it in hour after hour after hour. This stuff is all toxic. It makes me dizzy. How would we know if it's affecting a baby ?? Is it making baby feel sick and dizzy too? Ok. I'm sorry. I'm so off topic. But I'm so passionate about this topic. I wished I listened to some of these people that warned me yrs ago. Anyway. Read about it. If u don't know someone with MCS / chemical injury now, you will. It's coming. Lol.

Omg..So GLAD I READ YOUR EXPERIENCE! !! .I have had a severe allergic reaction under my tounge, to the Suboxone Strips,..Its a like a "BURN",very red & SORE, extremely irritated,
..I've had this for years ..on & off! ....Finally someone else knows what Im talking about !!!.This is my 2nd time within 8 yrs I've been on sub strips ,was on subutex &both pill forms, before 2015! But relapsed in 15 & had to get back on .This allergy began again after first 2 weeks!! I told my Dr...he said I could switch to the pill form ,but in the area I live in , the pharm. don't carry them!! It has gotten better , I have to drink LOTS of water before putting strip under my TOUNGE! !
I might switch soon..but its hand enough finding a nice, fast, "unbiased to my situation" pharmacy" !
Some pharmacies are very unfriendly, I love the pharmacy I go to now, & don't want to switch yet. ...The one I go to now is great & they only have strips! Some days I have a routine. i follow....so under my tongue area wont hurt as bad !
So I also have to rinse with warm salt water every other DAY!!. Its called a chemical burn. Just like YOU SAID
Thanks for the info on all the Chemicals in our air...that we ABSORB!!
I thought it was just me!! Made me feel a little better & that I probably do something about NOW !!??

I know this post was originally posted in Dec. of 2016 but I have a question. How can you take Suboxone for THREE YEARS to kick an opiod addiction? I have been told by everyone I know that had to go through this that the cure was worse than the disease. I have been advised by people I know that kicked their pain pill addiction that they just forced themselves to titrate down gradually as the Prescribed Suboxone was worse than the pain pills they were on. In other words they traded one addiction for another worse addiction. They all told me, that given 20/20 hindsight they would have never started with the Suboxone in the first place. Three years (at the time of posting this comment) on a substance that is supposedly designed to help you kick an opiod addiction seems to be excessive. When I read posts like yours it drives home the reason that so many that have taken Suboxone has advised anyone that has been prescribed this addictive medicine to find a different path to get rid of opiod addiction.

Try another opiate like methodone, or bup without narcan.
