Budesonide Corti-steriod 3 Mg.

Updated

I have been on this medication for (off and on) for abt. 4 years (estimate) It is also listed as ENTOCORT. It is prescribed by my Gastroenterologist Doctor the 1st time in Sept.2012 - then again in 2017 after another colonopscopy showing that my colitis (flammable) had returned. It is very expensive, and due to many problems with my diverticulitis and colitis I have to continue using it as a last resort to my colon problems. I also have an aneursym located in my head that I got when I fell on cement on 2/7/2013. I was taking the cortisteriod Entocort when this happened ( 1 per day). I came close to dying due to severe head trauma after a drop in blood pressure and the fall. I am still trying to deal with these problems day by day. I deal with every day stress due to having a husband that is 100%service connected disabled veteran that has went on since abt. 2014. The gastroenterologist dr. also gave me vitamins/plus I take acetaminophine w/codeine for my mind(no more than 2 per day) sometimes 1 and 1/2 the best I can). I have to be very careful of what I eat each day. The Doctors at UK hospital/Lexington saved my life in 2013, but it is an ongoing solution of problems to keep my life together. Any ideas abt. the problems I deal with daily??

Susie,

Aneurysm in your head? Is this reparable? I had a huge aneurysm in my thoracic area due to thoracic outlet syndrome. Was yours caused by your fall and head injury? My aneurysm was very rapid growing and caused by narrowing of area artery passes through in shoulder. 71/2 -hrs, minus 2 ribs, and a neck muscle, two incisions later and the artery was repaired. I was very afraid it would pop before my surgery date. My mother and uncle had abdominal aneurysms, so I was afraid of them before I even knew I had one. How are they treating you? Blood thinners? I had a large stroke in cerebellum, so I know brain damage. I hope to God you will not have to go through a serious surgery or suffer too much from your aneurysm. Though I must say, I am stunned by the brains ability to reroute, because of damage done by stroke or aneurysm. I pray you will be well. My husband is also 100% disabled due to service. And I too have diverticulitis. Funny how people find each other! God bless.

Re: JMJ (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

Yes - according to my neuro-surgeon in Univ. of Ky. Hospital in Lexington, Ky. he said if I ever start having severe headaches - get to the emergency room at once (abt. 115 miles from where I live). They have checked it every yr, since 2013 (then in 2017 and then 6 months later again) and say it is staying the same (No.3 cc or something like that-can't remember). They have also checked my whole body by MRI, etc... I have never had headaches in my lifetime (and I am 70-yrs. old) but my memory has gone down considerably/plus low blood pressure. I still have to take budesonide for collagenous colitis/diverticulitis plus some weakness in my right shoulder. I take acetaminophen w/ #3 codeine for shoulder pain and it helps my mind some. I have a bad right eye from the fall that is still double vision and I have had 3 pairs of eyeglasses and the last one was very strong/but I cannot wear it so I went back to my other pair. The most of my worries come from my eye and colitis now, so I still try to survive the best I can each day. Any answers will be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: JMJ (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

I went for another MRA in March 2018 for my head aneursym, and the test showed that it had not changed since the last checkup. The Dr. who was over the surgery is the same top doctor that I have had since this happened in 2013. He said he will check it again in 2 YEARS. Is this not odd ? to check again in 2 YEARS I only see the same Doctor after I have had the MRA and then they send the results to him and usually another intern doctor. I wonder what will happen if this goes awry-?? Do you know ab. this problem??

Susie, the only thing I can think of is that it might be in a spot where they can't remove it, otherwise, the normal thing
would be to do something to remove it, or treat it. What medications are you currently taking? Are you on any blood thinners?

But it is great the it hasn't changed. 2 years it not really odd, the longer we stay stable with any given medical condition, the less frequently we need to have it checked. I had congestive heart failure in 2010, and I've gradually been moved to only needing to be checked by a cardiologist every year, or so, since I have stayed stable.
