Beneadryl For Poison Ivy

Can a heart patient take Benadryl for poison ivy iching and burning?..I am unable to sleep with the iching. Can you tell me what to take?.

Ask your doctor about Chlobetasol Proprianate. It was originally an excema cream. I swear by it. I can stand outside and if the wind blows on poison ivy, I get it. If you can use cortisone cream, you should be able to use this. It is the only thing that works for me.

My cardiologist approved of my taking Benadryl, when needed, however, it can also depend on what other medications you are taking, so it is always best to check with your doctor, first.

However, if you post back with the names of your other medications, I can also check for interactions for you.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of Benadryl as possibly including dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth.

I am not sure if you doctor would approve the use of Clobetasol, as the other poster suggested, since it a steroid class medication according to the FDA, which could elevate heart rate and blood pressure.
