That's what saved my wife's life yesterday at the ER.She took a 10 year old expired bactrim pill and got lock jaw and a swollen tongue. She couldn't speak either. The ER gave her an iv of benadryl. It fixed her in five seconds. No joke,it was like she was immediately fixed. They pushed three more doses in an hour and released her.He told her to take benadryl tablets every 7 hours for 48 hours. She's doing well and I'm glad she's alive.

It would be best for you to have this checked out by your doctor. Given the symptoms you've described, you might be experiencing and allergic reaction to this medication, according to the NIH, and if that is the case, such reactions tend to worsen with repeated exposure, so you may need to stop taking it and switch to a different antibiotic.

While antibiotics can cause a non-allergic skin rash, in some people that take them, according to the FDA, it is not usually itchy and does not cause hives/welts. It is normally just a visible rash.

Are you on any other medications?
