I had a colonoscopy done and sow the swilling in the picture taken. I was told that my problem is chronic. The doctor prescribed CANASA 1000 MG. This medication is so expansive that it cost me over $500 for 30 day supply, that is thru insurance.
Per my search online, this medication dose not cure ulcerative proctitis but it may decrease the number of stools, the amount of mucus/blood in the stools, and the rectal bleeding caused by irritation/swelling of the colon/rectum. Mesalamine is an aminosalicylate anti-inflammatory drug. It is believed to work by blocking the production of certain natural chemicals that may cause pain and swelling.

How can my condition be treated effectively, rather just blocking the production of certain natural chemicals that may cause pain and swelling. Please help

Thanks.
