I had a very bad bacterial tooth infection, was a day away from being septic. I was on Clindamycin 300mg for over 10 days. Can this cause my period not to come at all? I have endometriosis so i got allll the normal period pain warning signs but it never came. I'm still going to take a test, but should i be worried it's not the antibitoic and I'm pregnant?

Hello WinMac,

I was able to find a few sources and one study done by the NIH that shows there is a correlation between antibiotics and menstrual cycles. From what I read it seems that antibiotics affect the way that your body produces hormones and if enough is taken it may affect your greatly enough to prevent completely or delay a cycle. I have linked below the NIH case study as that is the most credible source.

I would like to advise that just because there is a link between the two does not mean that you are not pregnant. If you have had unprotected intercourse I advise you to follow up with your doctor to ensure that you have most accurate information available to take the best course of action.

I hope this helps.
