Amoxicillin Dosage For A 9 Year Old Child

My child is 9 and weighs 55lbs. What is a normal dosage of amoxicillin in pill form? She has strep.

According to the MayoClinic, the dosage of amoxicillin for children weighing less than 88lbs is solely based on body weight and must be determined by their prescribing doctor.

However, for adults and children weighing more than 88lbs, the normal dosage is reportedly 250 to 500 milligrams every 8 hours, or 500 to 875 mg every 12 hours - figures that are also determined by the prescribing doctor.
