Amneal Percocet Weak

Updated

This is in reference to Amneal Pharmaceutical's "7.5/325" Oxycodone, the label which also reads in part: "*7.5 mg oxycodone HCI, USP is equivalent to 6.7228 mg of oxycodone" without explaining what that means. CVS switched my brand last month and claim that all brands are the same strength. NOT SO, according to the level of pain and everyone who is in pain knows that pain does no lie.

Having a website where people can rant about their product to one another is an old trick perfected by Apple, Google, and Microsoft to make us think that somehow they're part of the conversation. Do not take no for an answer in telling your doctor, pharmacist, and insurance that you insist on something that works and is in fact the strength that your doctor prescribed!

Generics can vary in the amount of active ingredients they contain. For example, if a pill says 10 mg, there can be 8 mg-12 mg of active ingredients and that is acceptable according to the FDA. Brand names have exact active ingredients. Due to the high cost of brand names, most, if not all insurance companies will not pay for brand name unless a dr specifies it on the prescription and sometimes not then.

In my case I'm talking about generic brands. I'm willing to bet that CVS got Amneal for less so what the patient/customer says is not important. I still don't find proof that "7.5 equals 6.7228" and just because the pharma says so does not make it so. The HCI, USP is part of the Amneal brand. My pain level is such that I may as well be taking a placebo. Apparently the patient is the least important link in the chain because so far I don't have a straight answer nor why I can't go back to the generic that worked.

Lets not forget that American healthcare is for profit and not for patients. That explains why pharmacies and insurance companies could care less about our feelings. The same medications in other countries costs pennies on the dollar, but here in America not only are they milking our wallets but to add salt on the wound, they give us "placebos" instead. No wonder big pharma keeps growing larger while patients suffer. It's greed to the highest extent possible. I wish we could all boycott pharmaceuticals and put them out of business (because that's probably the only way they would cease to exist); but Western society fails to put research and money into the seemingly endless possibilities of natural, alternative, and preventative treatment options. Only since the 20th Century have we changed our ways to become totally dependent on big pharma. What on earth will it take to return to sanity besides an economic collapse? I don't mean to sway off topic, but when the pharmacy only has things that don't work, what else is there? As it stands, the DEA has already taken steps to ban a proven alternative / effective pain medicine such as Kratom, so we the people would have to become more dependent on them as they ban the competition.

David, in the U.S. we pay for safety and other regs that keep the medications as safe as possible. These things cost money. When you purchase a drug, you don't just pay for the cost of that drug. You pay for the salary and benefits of the employees, the rent and utilities of the facilities, etc.

BL,

That doesn't necessarily apply to other larger countries (e.g. Canada), where the light fictures and other overhead costs don't seem to impact pharmaceutical prices. It's only an American thing in my view. Besides, these billion dollar companies could easily switch to solar/wind power and not have utilities be an issue...

I get what you're saying, but if the salary and employee benefits are factored into drug costs, then Canadian pharmacists must be living on food stamps...

If safety were really an issue or priority, most pharmaceuticals would be banned already. The fact that they banned a plant like Kratom that has been used safely for thousands of years (including the likes of marijuana) whilist keeping meds that kill hundreds of thousands every year just goes to show what their true agenda really is. If you can't see that then I don't know what to tell you.

The difference is not that It sounds to me like you are getting oxycodone BASE (which is stronger mg for mg) verses oxycodone HCL HYDROCHLORIDE.
