Alternative To Myprodol

I have dental pain due to what the dentist thinks is a dying nerve. I was prescribed Myprodol, but I have previoulsy had a stomach ulcer and I am reluctant to take it. My appointment with the endodontist is only in 2 days. Is there an alternative to Myprodol with the same anti-inflammatory proerties and pain relief, that will not be harmful in terms of stomach acid production?

Myprodol is listed as containing a combination of Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen, and Codeine, it is used to alleviate moderate to severe pain.

The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.

Generally, if you're only taking it for a couple days, then it shouldn't cause any severe stomach issues, however, you could speak to your doctor about taking it with something to alleviate the production of excess stomach acid. It can also help to make sure you take it with food, and not on an empty stomach.

Most anti-inflammatories can cause stomach irritation, the trick is to find one that works for you, without making you miserable.
