Hello, Casandra! How are you?

The typical over the counter Aleve in the U.S. contains 220mgs of Naproxen, per gelcap, so taking 2 of them would be 440mgs, thus the prescribed 500mgs is stronger.

This is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that's used to treat pain, fever and swelling. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation.

Is there anything else I can help with?

thanks a lot for your answer. The problem I was trying to avoid is the side effects of naxopren It upsets my stomach. I have taking zantacs today but it is not a good idea to get a benefit from a medication that gives you an stomach problem. Do you know any other medication of the level of effectiveness as naxopren without its side effects and that it is not narcotic?

Hello again, Casandra!

There are others available, but they all carry pretty much the same risks, including the stomach irritation. Ibuprofen is another NSAID and Acetaminophen is also available, but it carrie the risk of liver damage or failure.

Have you discussed the issue with your doctor? They may have an idea of something that would help, alternatively they may be able to prescribe something to better protect your stomach.

yes but the doctors seem to ignore these problems they should know about those problems but pretend not too.
There are not many alternatives for me one pain or the other. Thanks for your answer.

It isn't that the doctors pretend not to know, it's that in many cases they honestly don't know.

Doctors are actually only trained in the basics of medication usage and side effects. They do not have the same in-depth training that a pharmacist, tech or nurse has.

In order to have that training, they'd need to add another 4 or so years onto their time in medical school.

Are there any other questions or concerns?
