I could be wrong about this but I believe Adequin is the brand name. It is an injection used for animals with arthritis. I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think it is prescribed for humans yet.

Yes, as of this time it is only available for animals, though it does work wonders for dogs with arthritis.

That's what I hear. I sure could use something like that for my lupus joint pain! I have tried all of the heavy duty things, oxycontin, oxycodone, morphine, dilaudid, demerol, etc. I find myself coming back to the hydrocodone 10/500 or 10/325. I know there are strong medications but I need to be able to take something that works somewhat but doesn't make me totally incompacitated. My mother is 94, with lupus and she has found that hydrocodone 7.5/750 works better than the other narcotic pain killers. What has been your experience? You said you take a lot of heavy duty pain medications. Is it hard to function or have you built up somewhat of an immunity?

Yep, I have built up a major tolerance to them and have no trouble functioning at all, I only had problems for about the first 2 months.

The only time I have a problem again is if my pain is out of control and I have to add my extra med, since my body isn't as used to that dosage, or of course if my doc changes me to a new one, or ups a dosage, then I will be out of it for a bit. My worst side effect right now is constipation, I chew lots of fiber tablets. LOL! I also do get drowsy sometimes and have to take a nap.

I think the strangest effect I have is the drowsiness, sometimes I will be alright for days in a row, then it seems to catch up with me, and all I can do for a few days in a row is sleep. (My main med is Ms Contin.)

I have a degenerative spinal problem.
