Actavis Hydrocodone/ibuprof 7 5 200 Mg

Updated

I have been taking Hydrocodone/Ibuprofen 7.5-200mg tabs for over 10 years now for chronic pain from having my jaw smashed & back broken. The past two months I have received a different generic from Wallgreens with Actavis as the manufacturer and THEY DO NOT WORK. Absolute crap!! I tried taking more to get the same normal affect and now I have had nothing but major stomach issues and ears ringing. I am going to my Dr on Monday to discuss!! This is ridiculous!! I am going to report to FDA and wallgreens headquarters!! Please let me know if anyone else feels this way?? Thank you.

I had the exact same issue when I went to have my script filled at Walgreens in Dec 2016. The pharmacy of course did not say they switched manufacturers and so a week into the meds I thought I was losing it. I was not getter any pain relief and was suffering from extreme nausea & diarrhea. I started to investigate what the problem was & noticed ACTAVIS was the name & then went on the internet & found out I was not alone. I found someone else who had submitted a form through FDA.gov. There is a form you can submit either on the internet or a hard copy you can print out & mail. The form asks for a lot of information so make sure you have your scrip info with you when you fill it out. One thing they ask for is the Lot# which is not included & you will have to call your pharmacy. They will try & pushback giving the info to you but don't let them off the hook without giving you an answer. There is a bill trying to be passed in legislation that will require the lot number being provided with your scrip like the RX number. (I would follow up on how to help get that bill passed). Without the lot number it's harder to pin point the issues with meds & legally follow a claim which is why I'm sure they don't want to give it out). Once I stopped taking the med the bad side effects stopped but withdrawal started to set in). I went to see my Dr right away & she wrote me a new script so I could get it filled at a pharmacy where I know the right manufacturer. Most doctors will work with you on this as long as you do the research & have adverse symptoms Some pharmacies will order from the manufacturer if you request it. I am 51 & have been taking Hydrocodone/ ibuprofen 7.5/200 for almost 10 years and so I know when the drug does not work. ACTAVIS & AMNEAL IS JUNK! it's pathetic what pharmaceuticals will try to pass off as a real drug & puts our lives in jeopardy. I hope this helps & wish you the best in getting help.

Thank you for posting as Actavis doesn't work at all for me either. I think this manufacturer was Watson which wasn't that great. My insurance plan makes me use Walgreens who hassles me about this drug every time I go in there. Doctor only allows 2 a day which is ridiculous. I will follow your advice and file a complaint with FDA but know they won't do anything. I just so glad to hear I'm not the only one who has a problem and I really did think it was me. Thank you again. Great post!

Re: MammaBear (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

I had the exact same issue with Walgreens switching from Watson 853 10-325 to IP 110 to "save costs". I have been on this medication for over 20 years and have never had issues like the IP 110 caused with heartburn and drowsiness from that garbage. I had never paid attention to the manufacturer of the medicine. I would be interested to hear if someone has any other suggestions as I will have the pharmacist see if that is approved to order.
